Review summary

We are frequent cruisers on Carnival and loved this one as much or better than the others. The Freedom is a beautiful ship, loved our balcony room and especially the adult's only Serenity space. Treated myself to a massage...doesn't get much better than that! Any Time Dining is wonderful and the musical shows were simply outstanding. Lots of fun comedians on this cruise, too. Food as usual was quite good; we always take advantage of the incredible dining room service (love the menu and amazing wait staff!) and try to fit in some Guy's Burger Joint as well. My only disappointment is that the time you are able to spend in the ports of call is just not nearly enough. With having to tender back and forth to Grand Cayman (along with all of the other cruise ship lines), you just don't have time to really enjoy an excursion. And in Jamaica, the traffic at the end of the day is insane, so we had a rather hair-raising experience trying to get back to the boat on time. Overall AMAZING vacation and we pretty much want to go back every day. Thanks, Carnival!

Musical shows were so well done and fun and really appreciated the variety of comedians. The stage show performers are so talented and give it their all; very cool AV and tech. The shows are always one of my favorite things.

Not sure why, but every stateroom I have ever stayed in has the dirtiest remote control you can imagine. Stewards really need to make a point of cleaning those after every trip! Seems like that would be a good way of keeping germs to a minimum, too.

Ship tip

Book only short excursions at all the ports of call...there is just not enough time. Especially in Grand Cayman where you have to tender back and forth to the ship. I loved this cruise, but I would plan only beach time if I were to take it again. Might skip Grand Cayman entirely.

We stayed some extra days and enjoyed it immensely. Take time to stroll the beach and enjoy a frozen treat at Rita's. Try the Cajun Greek. We loved it!

Too many ships in port at once overwhelmed the island and there were not nearly enough tender boats.

Not as many excursion options near Montego Bay, requiring long rides. Late afternoon traffic is HORRENDOUS; barely made it back to the ship in time. But we loved the warm and welcoming Jamaicans.

When you book thru Carnival if you are late the ship will wait on you, on the otherhand if you don't book thru Carnival and you are late it's see you later we are gone.

We went to Montego Bay last year and it was awesome. We booked through Carnival to Secrets St James beach excursion. Air conditioned bus meat us at pier a d picked us up at end of excursion. The beach had lounge chairs with thatch bungalows. The jerk chicken is the best. Drinks were plentiful. Overall fabulous day.

What excursion did you book here and was it through Carnival or an outside company? We have an outside company booked for June. I'm super paranoid about not using Carnival but unfortunately they didn't offer the excurson we wanted.
