Review summary

We were a little nervous about a Caribbean cruise during hurricane season but the weather was perfect.  The ship was great and the staff was very attentive.  This was a last minute trip so we booked an inside room on back of the Riviera deck - quiet and not having the window made it easier to sleep.  We only made it to the dining room the first night; the rest of the trip we enjoyed the flexibility of eating on the Lido Deck buffets - lots of options and food was good.  Our favorite bartender was Mark, on Deck 3 (Lobby Deck).  Our favorite bar was the Alchemy Bar - sad that we didn't discover it until the last two nights.  The "mixologists" make hand crafted drinks and create anything you want.  They were worth the price!  The shows were first rate and the comedians at the George Lopez Comedy Club were incredible.  We also liked the Tasting Bar for a quick bite before shows and dinner.  We wouldn't hesitate to go again.  The ports were nice; the only excursion we felt were not worth the money was the city trip in St. Maarten.  Took you from the Dutch side of the island to the French side with an hour spent in Marigot (wasted time as there is nothing to do there). Never saw a beach or anything worth while except from a distance.  We enjoyed the helicopter ride in Grand Turk and spending time at  the Margaritaville pool area.  In St. Kitts we enjoyed golf at the Marriot Resort - beautiful waterfront location - and spent a little time afterward by the pool at their fabulous resort.  Only a $12 cab ride from the port.  Loved the Spa Serenity area for quiet relaxation and Aileen, the massage therapist, was terrific.  She is a licensed physical therapist and massage therapist; very knowledgeable and gave a great hot stone massage.  We wouldn't hesitate to go again. If we go again, we'd probably spend more time on the ship and less time on land unless we were doing an excursion that involved being in or on the water - turquoise and beautiful!  Can't wait to try the newest ship, the Sunshine.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

Lido Buffett provided a variety of food and the private Steakhouse dinner was outstanding.

Entertainment

Outstanding broadway shows and we loved the comedians, especially Anthony Acosta and Azeem

Service and Staff

Mark at the lobby bar was outstanding and Aileen, the massage therapist at the Serenity Spa was the best!

Ship Quality

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Plenty of room, always clean. Only thing that would make it better would be at least one additional electrical outlet.

Ship tip

Take advantage of the omelette station; great stuff. Lido deck is great for all meals - provides flexibility and good food. Loved Guy's Burger Joint and the Bluelguana Cantina. Don't miss the Alchemy Bar - best on the ship! The EA Sports bar is a great place to meet like minded friends.

Ports of call

Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida Did not visit port

Much easier to get in and out of than Miami. Carry your own bags and you can get off the ship early!

Grand Turk Island

Not much to do on the island but Margaritaville pool is a great place to spend time and the helicopter excursion was great.

San Juan, Puerto Rico

Nice people, good food.

Basseterre, St. Kitts

Beautiful island. For a $12 cab ride, go to the Marriott resort pool area. The waterfront golf course was fabulous.

Philipsburg, St. Maarten

Beautiful water. City excursion was terrible - would suggest any one involving water.
