Carnival Fascination

Sail date: February 07, 2013

Ship: Carnival Fascination

Cabin type: Oceanview

Traveled as: Singles/Friends

Review summary

Overall, I had a great time on the Fascination and would sail on her again. The food, service, and entertainment were great. My only issues were visiting The Bahamas that, to be honest, I was pretty disappointed in. That's not Carnival's fault, though. If I ever visit The Bahamas again, I will just stay on the ship unless I find a great excursion.

Imagination Dining Room

Excellent food and service. The MDR (main dining room) was one of the best parts of my cruise.

The Cowboy Comedian was on this ship and is one of the funniest comics I've seen.

Children's Programs

I don't have kids.

Cabin / Stateroom

If the cabin uses the twin setup, you'll have to stand on the bed to see out the window (see my photos.) Personally, I think I will just upgrade to a balcony next time. Don't let this discourage you though because I know, for some cruisers, the cabin is nothing more than a private place to sleep and shower.

Ship tip

If The Cowboy Comedian is the comedy entertainment, don't miss his show! He is hilarious!

Ports of call

Jacksonville, Florida

5 out of 5
I lived in Jacksonville at the time. There is a lot to do so and love the city.

Freeport, Grand Bahama Island

1 out of 5
I did not like Freeport. You get off the ship where you're immediately whisked away (by cab) to an area that is nothing but a tourist trap (it was just this "grand bazaar" type area where everywhere sold souvenirs. There was nothing special about this place - just trying to get you to buy insignificant things. In all fairness, though, I didn't go on an excursion so if I ever do visit Freeport again in the future, I will make sure I check into them to see if there's something more exciting. If no excursion catches my eye, I will just stay on the ship.

Nassau, Bahamas

Nassau was pretty mediocre. I went to The Atlantis resort and just walked around. Atlantis was pretty cool, but expect to spend a lot of money if you want to do anything there. The island, as a whole, was much nicer than Freeport.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Disembarkation went quickly and smooth.
