Carnival Fascination

7 Night Eastern Caribbean (Jacksonville Roundtrip)

Sail date: April 30, 2011

Ship: Carnival Fascination

Cabin type: Oceanview

Traveled as: Couple

Reviewed: 13 years ago

Review summary

We recently sailed on the Fascination for a 7-day cruise after having sailed on the same ship 18 months ago on a 5-day excursion. The boat did not meet our expectations quite as much as the first time around but overall did not reflect on the quality of our vacation.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Portions seem to have "shrunk"

Entertainment

Service and Staff

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Not as clean or maintained as used to on other ships. Lack of amenities such as a Dry Cleaner.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
Smaller than on other ships.

Ports of call

Half Moon Cay, Bahamas (Private Island)

5 out of 5
What was not to love? The water was crystal clear and warm; the sand like "sugar." The BBQ was delicious and the amenities were super with just enough excursions for those that did not want to "sun" on the beach. I could have gone ashore for this every day!
Don't Miss: Snorkeling

Grand Turk Island

5 out of 5
Most shopping was a little pricey but enough for everyone's taste. It was clean and the beach by the docks was quite nice. There was plenty to do even without booking an excursion
Don't Miss: If not doing excursions then a trip to "Marqueritaville" where you could watch the "flow riders"

Nassau, Bahamas

3 out of 5
Nassau has little to offer for entertainment. A favorite is Senor Frog's, mostly for the young at heart.
Don't Miss: A trip to Atlantis (Paradise Island)

Pros: Quality of Food

Cons: Cleanliness (musty smell) in room and corridors

Recommends Carnival Fascination? No.
