We liked it but wouldn't do the fantasy again. We would pick a different ship. This is just our second cruise and we thought all ships were created equal, they are not. Pick a larger ship.
Embarkation
3 out of 5
The ladies at the terminal were barking at us to keep moving but we had our three teenagers behind us that were NOT about to get lost in the crowd. A little more compassion would have been nice.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
Mostly good. I loved the coffee bar and the barista. Our server most nights were amazing, the last night I felt like I was at an Applebee's.
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
Pools, WAY too crowded and hot tubs were as well. Shows were very good and Paully was awesome, good energy.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
We had a great time with the shows and comedy clubs!
Children's Programs
2 out of 5
My 13 year old wasn't impressed but loved last year's elation. I also have two 15 year old daughters and they would not allow them in the same room to play a board game which was very disappointing to me.
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
Wasn't five star but was good!
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
Everything was very clean...always.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
Typical cabin. However, our first cruise, Elation had a fridge in the room. There were no fridges in this room, very disappointing when you wanted a cold drink.
Ship tip
If this is your first ship, do it. If this isn't...pick another, lots of details that made a difference for us. At the end of the day, you're still on a ship on vacation but the little things we had last year, we were disappointed we didn't have them this year. It was super crowded as well in the pools and hot tubs.
We went past the port and rented a golf cart. Went shopping and swam at a waterfront restaurant and got scammed. Everything about this port was shady...for a reason. I'll never go past the port again.
This is an older, smaller ship and an entry level cruise aimed primarily at first time / budget conscious cruisers. A newer, larger ship will usually give you a better experience.
You’ll find that while many cruisers prefer larger ships, many of us enjoy Fantasy Class ships. We’ve been on 11 FS class cruises (6 different ships), and enjoy them. It’s not all about the larger/ newer ships for us. I would hesitate to tell others which type/size ships they would like, since it’s personal preference... Happy future cruising!
