Review summary

We have flown to Mexico a few times, and this is an affordable way to travel outside of the US....BUT a cruise is not for us! We would much rather fly, and stay at an all inclusive resort b/c you can't beat the service and entertainment!!! There were too many people on this small boat, and we were very disappointed with the pool size. There was no way we could enjoy relaxing in the sun b/c it was too hot with no where to cool off! The water slides were fun for the kids, but not all of the water features were working every day. The food was phenomenal, but again, we could have had the same food with better service at an all inclusive resort!

Embarkation

Quick and easy, but since we had never cruised before, we didn't know where to find our keys and different things. There wasn't anyone offering this information or where we could go while waiting for the ship to leave the dock. We had to figure it out on our own!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Food was delicious, and the drinks were ok! There just isn't a lot of places to get drinks in the main pool area, so the lines are long!

Onboard Activities

The pool is sooooooo small, and we were not able to enjoy it all! It was packed, and since there was so many people in a small area....the water was nasty! The waterslides were fun, but after a day or so the kids were looking for more things to do!

Ship Quality

2 out of 5
It took us a little while to become familiar with where everything was at, and we still were confused up until the last day on how to get to everything.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
The main bed was very uncomfortable since it is 2 twins that make the bed. Other than that, the room was clean, and the size didn't bother us at all!

Ship tip

Don't go when it is hot b/c cooling off in the water is not an option!

Cozumel never disappoints!!!! We went to Playa Mia, and it was awesome!!!! We will fly straight to Mexico for from now on, but we wanted to try something different.

Sorry that it was not what you were expecting. Bigger ships will offer a bigger pool. I wouldn’t say that cruising is off the table is you have not been on any other ships! Also, summer and holidays are always busy! The ships will always be packed because kids are out of school.

Our first cruise was on the Fantasy. The bar lines were long but we didn't have to wait more than 5 mins. We loved it and will be going on Glory the end of October. As far as embarkation/knowing what to do and knowing the ship...always do your research before you cruise. We were a little clueless during embarkation but we had all of our documents ready and went with the flow. There are maps(on the walls)all over the ship, which we used often.

Also just a little tip. Never cruise for the pools. Explore get to know the ship on the first days. There are shows. Comedy. Excursions. Resorts for a day. Meet new people. So much more than just relaxing by the pool. If that’s what you’re oooking for then yea ! Do a resort. But like they said some boats are bigger with more pools. Ecstasy is a little older and smaller.

Maybe a cruise on a larger ship with a different destination will change your minds.Give it a try then review with Shipmates.

I can highly recommend the Melia Cozumel all-inclusive in Cozumel. We fly in for weeks at a time
