What made our awful experience great was other passengers. Please be kind to one another! Other cruise guest were the nicest people! I’d never cruise this ship again.
Also, I don’t know where to add this but formal night was the second day (first sea day, this was a 6 day cruise.)
This ship is going into dry dock earlier 2019 I believe. Although, I’m not sure if anything added would help.
Embarkation

Ship experiences
Food and Dining
2 out of 5
The food in the main dining room was bland and the options were limited. The alcoholic beverages were delicious. My Guys Burger was cold (on the first day after embarking). However, I just threw it away and got another one. The desserts were unusually worse than any other carnival ship I’ve been on.
Onboard Activities
1 out of 5
The pool is ridiculously small. Kids were in it the entire time. Non of the movies that were suppose to be played in the theater were played. Fortunately, that could be a quick fix.
Entertainment
1 out of 5
Marty acted like he’d rather be some place else. Do NOT GET LATE NIGHT DINNER. All of the good entertainment is while late night dinner is going on.
Service and Staff
1 out of 5
My waiters in the main dining room for dinner were great. Other than that, staff was rude. Staff should great cruisers with a simple “hello” while passing by. Stateroom steward didn’t like if you requested extra anything. We requested a child’s life jacket for our stateroom and a towel set for our child... you would’ve thought we asked for something crazy!
Ship Quality
1 out of 5
The outside of the ship is rusty. The stateroom floors are nasty. They need to be ripped up. The area were most activities were smelled like cigarettes smoke! The entire floor of the casino smelled like cigarettes smoke. Disgusting and unfortunate for guest who have lung issues! Also, the clean up crew slacked. Plates and empty glasses were everywhere during the duration of the cruise. I expected that the clean up crew would’ve picked up.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
This cabin was an inside cabin. However, our room was bigger than regular inside cabins. We originally booked an inside cabin. We called to add our child, the representative moved us to a bigger inside room to accommodate three guest. From seeing the typical inside cabins, our stateroom was much bigger! We had enough room to leave the stroller open. However, the door way is standard, so we had to close the stroller to get it inside of the room. Bathroom was the same size of a inside cabin.
Ship tip
Bring an over the door shoe hanger for extra space in the bathroom. Bring USB portability and NOT an extension cord. They will confiscate your extension cord even if it does not have a surge protector. I had to go to guest services and retrieve our extension cord upon opening our luggage.
It poured raining. You could buy a carnival poncho for $5. We had our own rain gear. We didn’t explore much because the weather. We went to the local coffee shop. Embarking on the ship in the rain was awful. The lines were long and it was pouring! We had a toddler in a stroller who loves water. Although, I felt bad for the elderly women in her wheelchair!
We went to San Francisco beach (free beach). We took a taxi for $15 there and $15 back. We probably will never do that again. (3 people) it use to be $4. The beach was fake and had lots of rocks. Again, our toddler loves water so none of that mattered. Many activities were offered along the shore, such as jet ski, water climbing house (whatever the climbing walls in the water are called), and restaurants. Natives continued to try and sell us stuff (typical).
I've been on this ship 6 times..I love it..but it is getting dirty and smells..I'm glad they are a updated house cleaning and repairs in January... so in 2019 when I cruise on her again it will be clean...the Crew make the ship worth going again...I'm am board with the food options but I go anyway..I always enjoy going..
Hold on.... 🧐I’m just reading the rest of this review. For some reason, it didn’t all show up before. The crew was some of the very best we experienced, and 😲Marty was very family friendly and very much approved of by myself & my older teens in tow. You are certainly entitled to your own perception. 😬
Dang... & I was on the same cruise and had a very different experience. Also, it was a 5 day cruise. I’ve yet to post my review or pics bc I’m too long winded & not sure what pics to share... it was a nice experience for us. First time cruisers with us can’t wait to go again. I think the elegant night on the first sea day is a good deal; it’s before we may get a sun burn &/ worn out from a port.
A few hours ago I read someone else’s review of this very same cruise and they absolutely loved it. They couldn’t wait to cruise her again. It’a my experience that their attitude set them up to not focus on the minutia and just relax and enjoy their trip...
