Review summary
Overall, an excellent cruise experience. Panama Canal was incredible!
Embarkation
4 out of 5
The staff worked very hard to accommodate everyone; but the process, as it is at every port I’ve ever visited, was extremely confusing and chaotic.

Incredible, awesome, fabulous! Loved it!
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
On this particular cruise, it seemed multiple activities were held at same time so on several occasions (more than 5), I had to choose between 2 activities in which I wanted to participate.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
I participated in the Academy of Fun presentations which were great except it was very frequently interrupted by art museum staff having to move pieces between “art gallery” and storage. Although the staff tried very hard to work quietly, this continued throughout each presentation and was quite distracting.
Art Gallery
4 out of 5
Pieces were awesome as usual. Not nearly as much discussion of pieces as on pervious cruises. No permanent gallery so pieces were constantly being moved. Very, very small area for viewing and auctions. Staff was very friendly.
Children's Programs
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
As with all staff I’ve ever encountered on every Carnival Cruise, the staff worked extremely hard to take excellent care of us the entire time. Always willing to do whatever was necessary and always with a smile.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
She is one of the older ships and shows signs of age, but staff worked constantly to maintain repairs and cleanliness.
The Art Auctions were held in an area which was way too small and all pieces had to be constantly moved. I’ve been on other Carnival ships where they were able to simply lock the doors to the gallery and it wasn’t necessary to move each piece before and after each viewing.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
Having 3 closets was a nice feature, but one, nestled between 2 walls was missing a knob to open door so we had to grab underneath the door to open, so it really wasn’t a problem for us. Shower head leaked in several places but it didn’t affect water pressure. Temperature was easy to maintain. Room was always very clean. All issues we had were cosmetic issues caused by age of the ship. Staff worked diligently to keep ship in best condition possible.
Ship tip
It takes a little time to get used to the floor numbers and labels. Elevators label floors by decks (and sometimes includes floor numbers).
We did Justin Roatan Zipline tour which was amazing! I’ve never ziplined before and felt very safe. Extra safely precautions taken and everything very well explained. Will do this tour again.
The walkway to the shopping area was washed away so much, it was almost not wheelchair accessible. One member of our party was in a wheelchair and had significant difficulty getting through the area.
We only visited the port but were only able to stay a short while because the people (excluding alcohol store at entrance) constantly antagonized each person to try to get them to come into each shop and if we didn’t go in or didn’t make a purchase, we were insulted. We did not experience this at the entrance alcohol store or the restaurants, but did at the shops. We finally just had to leave and go back to the ship.
This process seemed even more confusing and chaotic than usual. They had to bring staff off of the boat to help and didn’t have enough areas for baggage. They used over half of baggage area for “Zone 1”, even when amount of remaining luggage was minimal and remaining area for Zones 2-10.
