I was pleasantly surprised at how much fun and how much I liked cruising with Carnival. I have always heard that folks get really drunk and there are fights. Not true. We saw quite a bit of security walking around and everyone was well behaved. I will definitely cruise with Carnival again.
Embarkation

There were no issues. Super speedy process. We had an assigned time to show up and it was smooth.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
I think the food must have been a little salty as my feet started swelling at the end of the cruise. The food is all fresh and made on the ship. We LOVED Guy's burgers. Probably the best burger I have ever eaten. The main dining room staff was very polite and friendly. It would have been nice if they could have set up a table for 14. We had to sit at a table of 10 and then a table of 4 near by. I wish they gave you lobster as part of your dinner on Captain's night, but you have to pay for it. We had the drink package which I think was worth it. The coffee bar coffee is much better than the coffee that is free. The lady who works in the coffee bar is super nice and had some good suggestions of drinks to try.
Onboard Activities

Liked playing Trivia and lots of time options to play. Really enjoyed the comedy shows. Singing and dancing shows were very good. LOVE poolside hairy chest contest!
Entertainment

DJ was very good. We loved Benjamin the cruise director. Happy and enthusiastic but not over the top. Very witty.
Service and Staff

We loved our room steward, Dawi. Our room was always clean. He was very polite and informative. He came and went so quietly. The guy who goes around in the dining room selling shots was very nice and not pushy. We still hear him saying: Shot, shot, shot!
Ship Quality

Ship was clean and very nice. They must not have the most advanced stabilizers as the ship rocked quite a bit from the rough seas. Thank goodness I wore a sea sick patch.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
This was by far the largest cabin I have ever stayed in. I have been on both RCC and Disney. Maybe because this ship is older? I love that we are able to control our own air conditioning. The a/c unit needs to be cleaned. The window in our room rattled all night long. We had to turn on the TV to a music station to help drown it out. The only time it didn't rattle was when the seas were like glass, which was only on the last night.
Ship tip
The staff was excellent. I was pleasantly surprised that even though this is an old cruise ship, it was really just as nice as some of the newer bigger ships. I was a little disappointed that the shops were not open until the last night. I think they were remodeling.
We went to a all inclusive resort. The driver and guide to the resort were very nice. One of the pools at the resort was closed. Loved the massage on the beach. I was disappointed in the water there. Not that beautiful blue that I was expecting. The chairs on the beach were uncomfortable. Buy your goodies here because they are quite a bit cheaper than in Cozumel.
We loved Mr. Sancho's. They were bringing us food and drinks left and right. The food was delicious and fresh. The drinks were very good and didn't taste like a mix (margerita). We did the fish pedicure. It was fun and my feet felt awesome after.
Good4u, only the last two ships in the class have the Azipod units, the Fantasy as the lead ship does not. That having been said, I’m not sure how much that contributes to a smoother sail in rough seas, my guess is not much if at all. The larger issue is that 70K tons displacement and 25 foot draft gets bumped around more in rough seas than 125K tons and a 30 foot draft. Good news about the crowd. The crowd that sails from Mobile is not as rowdy as, say for example, NOLA. Shorter cruises are generally worse than longer ones in that regard. Glad you had a good time. We will be back on the Fantasy in July.
Ive been on 4 cruises with Carnival. I hear so many people complain about them but ive enjoyed all four. There was plenty to do, not overcrowded, no drunks, not alot of kids running around being rude etc. I wouldnt hesitate booking with them again
