All in all, this was a very good cruise. We enjoyed every minute and every activity that was offered. It was restful, as busy as we wanted to be, enjoyable, and the comedy club was super!
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Embarkation was as smooth as any we have had. Mobile is a great port to sail out of! This was our frst time, but will not be the last.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
The main dining room food was very good. Well seasoned and the correct temperature for each item we ordered. Lido dining was also very good. There was en excellent selection of food choices.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
The cruise director had the entire ship rocking all the time! The one downside was the lack of bands that would have encouraged dancing. There was also a limited number of places for bands to perform. This also limited the ability to dance. The group "Just Two" was very good. The other band groups were all right, but not outstanding.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
The singers and dancers in the theater had the most beautiful voices that harmonized and blended perfectly. Their dance routines were well choreographed. The shows were fast paced and very good.
Children's Programs
No Children!
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Our room steward, Tom, was exceptional! He addressed every concern and request we had. The waiters on the deck were all right, but not exceptional. The wait staff in the dining room was wonderful. And the Guest Services staff was exceptional. I always wonder how they can be so cheery and helpful after dealing with some of the people they deal with. Thank you so very much to Isabel! What a beautiful smile!!!!
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
The layout was fine and the decor was beautiful. I am sure when the Fantasy was first introduced, people were absolutely taken aback by its beauty. The marble steps in the Atrium are still beautiful and missed on so many of the newer ships. But she is beginning to show her age in many ways. Perhaps a complete overhaul that would remove the rust from around the windows and port holes would help.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
The size was fine, exactly like all ocean view cabins. As an older ship there was no available counter space in the bathroom, so we struggled to have a place for our toiletries. The bed was very comfortable, but the cabin was not in the best location as we were directly below the galley. Each morning about 3:00 am the crew began preparation for the day and we heard the chairs and carts on the floor above us. Will carefully evaluate location for ocean view cabins in the future. But the location on the deck with the Atrium was very convenient.
Ship tip
Get ready for a long climb up a ramp with many levels when boarding. A long and steep way to pull luggage. But once on board, the ship and cruise were wonderful!
We only spent the night in Mobile before sailing. We stayed at the Battle House Renaissance Hotel, and that was truly a memorable experience! The hotel is beautiful, over a 100 years old, and very beautiful. Truly an example of what "Used to be". hey included our parking for the cruise and shuttled us to the ship then picked us up after we returned. Excellent service, food and ambiance.
We went to Tropicante and when we return we will go back. BUT, we will also allow time to wander through the shops and restaurants in the port itself. So much has been added, and there many places to shop and just sightsee. After dark a fire dance show was performed that was amazing!
We went to Mr. Sancho's, an all inclusive beach resort. The food is great, the drinks are great and the service is even better. We always enjoy Mr. Sancho's!
