Again, this cruise just was not up to par compared to other previous cruises that I have been on. It wasn't a bad cruise but I will probably not book one on the Fantasy again. I was a little upset about how carnival staff seemed very insensitive about the medical emergency during our excursion, but I do praise the excursion staff that went over and beyond for us!
Embarkation
4 out of 5
It was good, smooth and quick but did pay the extra cost for faster to the fun.
The traffic was horrible getting into the port.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
The main dining room was good, the wait staff was awesome as always, but the menu has changed and some hints that used to be on the menu now cost you extra if you order. the buffets were good. All in all the food just did not seem up to par compared to the previous cruises that I have been on.
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
I did enjoy using the gym! The pool was so crowded that you couldn't even get in.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
We did enjoy the shows and the cruise director.
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
Waiters and room Stewart's were awesome as always
Ship Quality
3 out of 5
This is one of carnivals older ships. It was clean and I really don't have complaints about the ship it just didn't seem up to par compared to previous cruises that I have been on.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
Cabin was fine and no complaints!
Ship tip
We did have a couple of issues. One we had purchased some GOPro equipment from the pixel gallery and then realized it wasn't what we needed. They would not let us return it. Staff was rude and would not allow us to speak with a manager. We also made a complaint at and was told that they would email the mgr and someone would contact us but we never hear back from anyone.
This port is always awesome! We did the Passion Island excursion however we did have a medical emergency within our family while on the cateraman to the island. I have to say the excursion staff went over and beyond to meet our needs and ensured we were taken care off. When we arrived at Passion Island they had EMTs waiting and got us back to the ship by taxi. They ensured us that our taxi would be taken care of and they would reimburse us for the excursion since we did not get to enjoy. Now I can not say the same for carnival staff. They did not want to reimburse us for the excursion and only wanted to give us 25% back. They seemed very unconcerned and insensitive about our medical emergency. It just seemed all about the money to them. I did have to insist on them to call the excursion staff and they did and they did finally agree to reimburse the money.
We did have the faster to fun and we did choose to take our on luggage off. However we were given instructions to meet in a area which would have required going up stairs in the opposite direction. On our way to that area there were already people walking to get off and carnival staff just ushered us the same way. However, embarkation was pretty smooth and we did not have to wait long. We did have a shuttle from a hotel and was pretty lucky to catch one as soon as we walked out. But the other guest that was on the shuttle did not do the faster to fun and was actually off of the ship before we were so I felt as though I had wasted $60 on something that other guest got the same benefits but did not pay for.
The best Carnival ship I've been on was The Dream. The other two ships seemed to need some work done to them and they just didn't seem as organized as the Dream. However, I had pretty good experiences on the last two as well.
our last experience with carnival is sending us to look at other cruise lines each time we cruise carnival gets worse with a lot of cut backs and they are not up to par anymore
