We was scheduled to do a back to back cruise....but after the poor quality on the first half of our vacation....we cancelled the second cruise and went home. Not impressed with Carnival.
Embarkation

Let me say....the whole process of security, checking in and boarding was the BEST part of our vacation! Orderly and fast! Everyone was very helpful and polite.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining

Our service in the main dining room was slow and unattentive. We werent offered refills on beverages. Also was not offered coffee with dessert. My seafood in my meal was all overcooked. scallops and shrimp as tough as a childs rubber bouncy ball. Out of 3 of us....only one family member ate their meal.
The buffet was pathetic. First....most passengers dont use hand sanitizer as they enter buffet...several were in barefeet....even watched one man leaning over the buffet with no shirt on. Toasters didnt toast bread.....a staff member even mentioned to us that they didnt work.....yet they left them on the buffet. Food temps werent good. Variety very poor. Loooong lines with slow service.
Onboard Activities

If youve sailed one Carnival Cruise. ..youve pretty much seen many of the same things. Trivia, karaoke, ping pong, a small crowded pool with kids doing canon balls. Same goes for the hot tubs on the main deck. The lounge beside the casino is quite comfy!
Entertainment
2 out of 5
There wasnt a musical show every evening in the main theater. But thats ok because the ships singers butchered Motown so we didnt bother going to other shows. I en joyed the steel drum performer. And I Hate hate hate that the guest services desk is beside a bar with loud music! You shouldnt have to shout at the staff just to be heard.
Children's Programs
I had no children with me
Service and Staff

Out room Steward was fine. Our room was clean and he was polite and helpful.
Ship Quality

The layout sucks. Some elevators only went to certain floors and the decks werent numbered.....they had letters instead. It was very confusing. Lots of room service trays and dishes sat on the floors in hallways in the evenings.
Cabin / Stateroom

Clean, comfy and roomy. My only complaint was that there was only 1 reading light near the head of our bed......and it was on my husbands side of the bed. We both couldnt read unless we had the bright overhead light on.
Ship tip
Dont expect much from the bargain basement cruise line.....
4 Mile long pier!!! Loved that they had free shuttles. We did some shoppi g....but it was SO hot that day. We returned to the ship but plan to go back soon.
I've traveled on both RCC & CCL I must say Carnival is more of party cruise as to where Royal is more classy. It really depends on what your looking for. If your wanting to party on vacation then yeah Carnival would be my choice. Now if your wanting to relax enjoy yourself and be a little upscale Royal should be your choice. For me I've enjoyed BOTH 😀
LOL....nothing suspicious....just my honest review. The first 2 Carnival cruises we went on were fine. The last 2 werent. We cancelled because we weren't willing to spend another 5 days on a cruise we wasn't enjoying. As for our future Carnival cruises.....we plan to cancel them and book on Royal Caribbean instead. We travel a LOT....not just cruising....and as business owners ourselves, we believe in certain standards. Carnivals budget cruises are not for us.
What happened that was so bad to cancel and go home?? We have back to back magic ..Etc and are traveling from Australia so there is no way we will be home early had 22 cruises and not a bad one yet ?????
Sorry you didn't enjoy sailing with Carnival. Could you maybe give us a few details or examples of what went wrong for you? It makes it a whole lot easier when choosing a cruise if you know what the actual problems are. Thanks!
