Review summary
First of all I would like to recognize the following employee of the Carnival Fantasy Cruise Ship: Renata Varga. This girl was working 24/7 in the dining room and in the buffet area. Always with a smile and full of energy. I don't think she ever slept.
This was my first cruise and I traveled with my parents, sister and brother in law, who had all cruised before. The port in Mobile, AL was very organized onboarding and deboarding, with all of the personnel very polite and helpful.
The cruise was to Cozumel and back and was just right for a first cruise. The weather was perfect, but I did learn that the wind blows like crazy out on the ocean, even with small waves, so you better hold onto your hat when you explore the exterior of the ship. (By the way, speaking of hats, the ship has awesome $10.00 sales, so be sure and keep informed as to what is going on by reading the flyer that is put in your room daily)
The food, all of it, is delicious. The chocolate molten cake with ice cream, served in the dining rooms is a MUST! Don't miss out on this dessert :O)
The beverages with alcohol are VERY expensive, but you can bring (1) bottle of champagne or wine, per adult, on board in your carry on bag. Free room service and orange juice = Mimosas people.... AWESOMENESS! Also, there is a Cheers! Beverage Program that you may be interested in. Go to carnival.com to find out more about this and other offers from Carnival.
My only complaint was ... sorry.... the small children having the run of the pool area. There must have been at least 15 little kids crammed into the jacuzzi at any given time. My solution was to go to a deck somewhere on the ship and lay out. You can find quiet spaces, because the ship is just the right size. (Also, the kids ran up and down the hall the last night at sea, but a call to the service desk quickly put an end to it) NOTE TO PARENTS: Not cool to leave your kids unattended.
So go out on a short trip and try it for yourself. The employees on the ship are unbelievable. Always smiling and always helpful. I am serious. There are plenty of other companies that could learn from Carnival about their work ethic.
