Review summary

I had a wonderful time vacationing with my 83 year old mother, but I was very disappointed with the cruise. The ship was smaller than others I have been on and the food was not near as good. I had told my mother about other cruises and things that were offered and we expected similar service. The food was fair - maybe even toxic, since I became sick with fever and diarrhea within 30 minutes of leaving the ship. (I think it may have been from the salad that I ate the last night.). I am still sick. I saw my doctor yesterday (4-25) and had some tests done. The results are not back yet. My mother had never been on a cruise before and she will never go again. I do not think I will either.

Research the ships before you purchase your ticket next time. Had you done so you would have found out that the Fantasy is Carnival's oldest ship in the fleet. As far as the food goes my wife and I have sailed on her 3 times during the last few years and are book on her for another one in February and we have always enjoyed the food in the MDR and buffet.

Food poisoning doesn't cause you to run a fever. You most likely picked up a virus because people don't wash their hands. It'll run it's course.

Wow! That sucks! Fantasy is definitely one of, if not THEE smallest Carnival ship. It's unfortunate that you didn't have a great time. Cruising is awesome, if you choose to take her on another, because you seem to have great memories of your past cruise, I'd suggest Royal Caribbean for a more mature crowd. My cousins hated Royal Caribbean for THAT reason, but those older than her children(20's), LOVED IT! Her children were miserable.
