I realize that this isn't a glowing review but I'd rate the overall experience as average at best because the weather ( and I know that Carnival can't be held accountable ) was disappointing, the ports of call weren't that exciting, and the cruise's set up/focus seemed to be attentive to the interests of the "younger" crowd. Truthfully, I wouldn't take a five day length cruise again.
I wish Carnival Cruise Line well.
Embarkation
3 out of 5
Line lines even though we arrived at the requested time. It took 45 minutes at least.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
The convenience of the buffet and food selections were good. We only ate at the specialty restaurant once. That meal was just okay.
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
In all fairness we didn't use most of the "activities". That really wasn't the motivation behind our taking the cruise.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
The shows/entertainment were the highlights of this cruise! We attended multiple shows each night.
Children's Programs
No children
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Everyone was to be commended.
Ship Quality
3 out of 5
As a small ship ( compared with others in the Carnival fleet ) it was convenient to get from one point to another but with inclement weather (rain) there weren't enough diversions to meet the needs of the various age groups. (The ship's library was all but void of books, reading material.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
The cabin was comfortable, had a nice window view and was conveniently located.
In all fairness since the weather was poor on the day that the ship tendered people to Carnival's private island, we didn't go there but stayed on the ship. We've stayed in Nassau before so we didn't take any of the offered tours offered by the ship , but we did get off at the port for an hour or so. There's not much to see there. A lot of tourist shops, etc.
The opportunity to select your disembarkation time/method was a plus. Since it was a short cruise we hadn't packed more luggage than we could handle ourselves. At our selected time we were able to get ourselves off the ship in less than 15 minutes and be at the port's parking lot.
There isn’t a “Specialty” Restaurant on the Elation. It really is sad that guests don’t go to the Main Dining room(s) for dinner and even breakfast. The Arrival Appointment times are staggered, but in reality no one walks right in!!! There can be a few hundred guests with the same time!!
Appreciate your feedback. Sorry the weather ruined your cruise but glad you realized that. This is one of the oldest and smallest ships in the fleet so it doesn’t have all the “bells and whistles” of the newer bigger ones.
