Review summary
this is my 17th cruise and the first cruise where I did not tip. The service of the crew was restricted by Carnival policies. Our cabin steward cleaned the cabin once a day. As far as I'm concerned, that's his job. He did not check on us unless we called. This nonsense with the app was ridiculous. As stated before, I go on a cruise to unplug, not carry my phone with me at all times. Room service was also cancelled. We were on Deck 14 at the very front of the ship. The food was on Lido at the back of the ship. One night, without knowing, we called for room service and was told there was a charge. Needless to say, after dinner, we took food to our room in case it was needed. The crew and staff at Carnival was delightful but due to their "new" policies I won't be travelling with Carnival anymore. I hope their app craving crew can afford the suites on Verandah and above as we will be switching to another line or start visiting SandalsEmbarkation

Ship tip
i would tell them not to do it. it seems as though Carnival wants to push Gold and Platinum members from their ships. Most of us are older and like to unplug when we get on the ship. I don't like carrying my phone with me everywhere. If you want to replace us, who buy suites on your ship with the 20 and 30 somethings let me know. At this rate, I won't sail on Carnival again, which is a shame because I'm only 2 or 3 cruises away from being platinum
