Most bartenders were tired and hot I suppose. Acted as if I were bothering them for a drink. 1-2 bartenders with that many people on board the ship was simply ridiculous.

We always pay the automatic gratuities and tip our steward and waiters extra, and even some of those in the buffet…wow…do their faces light up!!! The staff work extremely hard, and deal with many pressures. If we can make them smile by adding to their tips, or engaging in conversation about their life, we are happy to do it.

How are you going to tip all the staff behind the scenes that you never see? That's the purpose of automatic gratuities. We always tip our waitstaff and room steward above and beyond in cash. If you're not willing or able to pay gratuities, don't cruise.

Next time remove the automatic gratuities and tip each person in cash according to service received. That would make them care.
