My first cruise over 25 years ago had rough seas (which cancelled all outdoor activities and made many passengers & crew members seasick), so I was excited to try cruising again. I was surprised how many children were there since not a holiday period. We enjoyed the cruise overall - its crew members were polite, efficient, and hard-working. The food was tasty with so many options. The cabin was nice with the picture window. Overall, a good experience.
Embarkation
4 out of 5
Very organized, but the elevators were so packed that the elevators kept skipping our floor. Perhaps there should have been more staggered times for the embarkation of passengers. times for the embarkation.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
The service staff was excellent. Some minor items were not included on the buffet I would have liked. The food was good overall and a nice variety.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
Relaxed in Serenity Zone hot tub (families took over the ones by the pool). Played miniature golf with grandsons on the top deck for a unique experience and view.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
We missed one show b/c no seats were available 30 minutes before the performance. By arriving almost an hour prior to get seats, we attended 3 comedy shows & all were entertaining.
Children's Programs
My grandsons were not interested (perhaps due to 4 years difference, they would not be in the same group and preferred to do activities together - like swim and ping pong).
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Our cabin steward was very attentive to our needs and made sure one of the bunk berths was raised out of the way during the day, but in place for night. Both he and our DR waiters spoke to us by name - a good communication tool.
Ship Quality
3 out of 5
Overall good but was very frustrated by having to frequently detour at first b/c of the galley (even though it was marked by each elevator, it "melted" into the diagram - perhaps a highlighted area for the galley w/b useful). By the end of the cruise, we were confident where things were located. Overall, the ship was clean.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
It was nice having the picture window for occasional viewing. We realized it was small, but also knew we would not be in our room long. Cabin cleaned thoroughly daily.
Ship tip
Bring canned water (not bottles which are prohibited), candy, & snacks - especially for kids - between meals or to enjoy during shows b/c the cruise prices are 4-5x what you would pay (e.g., box of $1.25 Junior Mints for $5.00)
Liked having shopping near the pier. We had fun on the Glass Bottom Boat tour despite the rain. Souvenir shopping great selection at straw market - $20 minimum for credit card use.
I enjoyed the interesting shopping/cultural tram tour while my daughter & grandsons had fun snorkeling in a shipwreck. The local merchants very friendly. We were disappointed no shopping near pier (one needed to pay $5/person each way for a taxi to go to a shopping area) - there s/b a tram for much less available. Also, minimal shade and no seating waiting for tour pick-ups at registration hut - many others noticed and complained about this. Bring cash unless you like to pay $5.00 more to use a card. Beautiful water & beaches, but make sure and have another port on a cruise not just this island unless you just like beaches.
