Review summary

Will pick a different cruise line in the future. My travelling partner and I both have been vaccinated and tested negative prior to travel. We were cancelled three times before boarding over the Covid protocol for Carnival. After being cancelled three times the week of our departure, Carnival still did not get it that we met the criteria. To add to this no one wore masks or took precautions.

Embarkation

1 out of 5
Paid for a suite with Priority Check In. Stood in the same long line with other guests and was told by the staff there is no such thing as priority check in or boarding.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The main dining room food and service was good. The breakfast buffet only had bacon 1 time during the cruise.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Spa was great. Serenity deck for over 21 was a retreat. The main pool area was covered up with people and the music was loud trashy hip hop style music.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Enjoyed all the shows.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
The class of guests would make anyone's job hard to keep it as clean as one would expect.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Enjoyed the balcony.

Ship tip

If you are into loud hip hop music and a crowded pool this is your boat.

Ports of call

Jacksonville, Florida

4 out of 5

Freeport, Grand Bahama Island

1 out of 5
Freeport has not repaired from damaged buildings, appears poor and crime ridden based on the boarded up buildings, bars on stores, and barb wire fencing in other areas. Not sure why Carnival calls this a port of call or a place for excursions.

Bimini, Bahamas

5 out of 5
Beaches and water is beautiful It is a vast difference from Freeport.

Disembarkation

1 out of 5
People can;'t follow rules. There is no such thing as priority checkin or checkout.

Thanks for info

There is a Priority Check-In Queue in the terminal, once you clear the Medical screening in the lobby. During Initial Boarding all SUITE guests board first. If you arrive late in the day, the lines are always longer in Medical Screening.

The QE2 sounds like your future ride, I'm sure the "Class of guest" would be met. As someone else pointed out, priority boarding has not been a thing since the start up. I'm sorry you had to stand amongst the commoners while you waited to board. While you were polishing your monocle in anticipation of reading your cruise contract, had you read it, it would have been discovered that currently some things, like boarding, have changed. It's always what you make it, thank you in advance for not booking with Carnival in the future, one less person in front of this class of guest.

🤔 I’m not sure what you based your expectations on but I hope your next cruise is more enjoyable for you. We have only been on a combination of 3 RC and 5 Canaveral cruises but we have always enjoyed them. Thank you for taking the time to share your review. 😎🚢☀️🩴🏝🪸🐠🌺

Thanks for the review. It’s always important to read and understand the current rules for boarding and the restrictions, if any onboard. There has not been any priority boarding since cruising resumed after Covid, although it could return at any time. There has been no requirement for wearing masks on board in several months. This is common on all cruise lines now, not just Carnival.

Oops sorry 😞

I am sorry to hear that, I had a similar experience and contacted the cruise line afterwards about that. You should do the same.

Avoid cruising in the summer if you can. Calmer crowds during the school year. We prefer Royal Caribbean although we have enjoyed our school year Carnival cruises too.

The Elation was horrible when we took it a few years ago.
