Wouldn't do this trip again -- a long way to travel from CA to spend only 2 partial days in 2 small parts of 2 small islands in Bahamas --- low-brow entertainment -- sad to see so many 300 pound+ people aiming for the buffets and ice cream bar, elderly in their wheelchairs, and people staying on -board even at ports just to eat or play in the casino.
Embarkation
1 out of 5
Miserable --- waiting over 2 hours in hot sun/humid weather with no shade to board ship, even though had boarding pass at 12:00PM, did even get into the port building until after 2PM --- huge lines, not even Carnival staff knew what was going on, elderly people fainting on sidewalk from heat and needing to call paramedics -- completely chaotic, and disorderly - lack of consideration by Carnival Corp. to keep their customers safe or well in such hot environment
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
2 out of 5
Lots of food, but very long lines and long waits to get to taco bar, pizza bar or omelet/sandwich bar -- there was lobster tail advertised on menu at main on-board Restaurant and written on the menu next to entrance, but upon being seated in restaurant, the waiter said there 'was a mistake' and there was no lobster - however, lobster tail was available to people who paid a $22 surcharge. Otherwise the cafeteria-style buffet did have endless food and coffee and tea - just not high quality food nor desserts
Onboard Activities
2 out of 5
The entire stern of ship taken over for children's water slides -- I had hoped for a lap pool, as is on other ships so I could actually swim and cool off, but the only pool on board was packed with children in life jackets, and the hot tubs were stuffed with people, so no swimming was ever possible. Fitness room was well equipped -- there was no way to run on ship, as there was no running tract as in other ships, but at least there was fitness equipment/weights/treadmills in the fitness room
Entertainment
2 out of 5
The auditorium had the sound do ramped up that it hurt my ears to listen -- literally had to bring earplugs to the show. The 'music' was mediocre, as was the dancing - there were no dance moves that couldn't be done by any amateur dancers, and the tenor, on his high notes, was screaming not singing. I was bored by the 'concert' and left after 10 minutes of one show -- Comedians considered it appropriate to use bathroom/body function humor in the PG rated shows in front of children, as well as using words such as 'hell' and 'damn' and joking about how she stole food in self-check-out lines at WalMart bc she could scan bananas for cheaper than other food she was actually checking out --- not funny nor appropriate. Other 'entertainment' was just 'shows' about how to shop for gems (to get you to spend more money) or about 'posture' or 'facials' or to ask raucous/lewd questions to ship guests about their marriage to entertain other guests, bc Carnival uses this as cheap entertainment
Service and Staff
2 out of 5
My room frig didn't work and when I requested a new one, the new one also didn't function --- the operation of the frig should have been checked before I entered the room -- my food I had brought for my own consumption, as I had been traveling in FL beforehand, went bad and to waste -- a waste of time and my energy, and frustration, dealing with the housekeeping to try to get this item fixed, as well as dealing with a sink drain that didn't work
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
well maintained and clean
Cabin / Stateroom
2 out of 5
small but functional -- no window, obviously, and heard every elevator ring and staff outside door cleaning, but doable
Ship tip
It you can get a cheap deal even to stay in the broom closet so you can see at least 2 Bahama island once in your life, perhaps it is worth it
So sorry that it sounds like you did not enjoy your cruise! Everyone has their own daily preferences and I am sure Carnival is sorry they did not fit into yours. There are several other cruiselines available, but they also do not discriminate against overweight or handicap people. Try Holland America where you can be a Karen there and spend 6k to see all the above there too!
