Review summary

We have filed a complaint to the cruise line for a full refund of the cruise, they did provide us a refund of $50 per person, per port missed. This is not enough. Yes we did eat, and pay for drink package. I spend a lot of money in the casino due to boredom. The cruise was rocking to a point were they were handing out seasickness pills for free. I would say 75% of people were sick. My partner included, he was sick in bed for a day and a half. I was sick when I got home. The decision not to sail again was the talk of the cruise ship, It was very disappointing, this is my 5 cruise and never has it been so bad till now. Even a free cruise would be a option that I would consider, they need to make it right.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
the cabin was nice lots of room for clothes, clean, bed comfy, spent all in bed sick, comfy pillow, love the towel animals, made me smile.

Ship tip

they need to fix the ships problems with engine, we were not able to get to the island that i paid for. NO Amber Cover or Grand Turks, could not dock. Propulsion issues, they could not dock to Amber Cove, then the excuse that the wind was too bad to dock to Amber Cove. Very dissapointed, on the sea for days. They decision to dock in Naussau was not favorable with the guest, including us.

Ports of call

Port Canaveral, Florida

4 out of 5
well organized

Amber Cove (Puerto Plata), Dominican Republic Did not visit port

We didnt make the port time to dock due to propulsion issues, not enough thrust to power the boat to full speed to make it to port.

Grand Turk Island Did not visit port

Suppose the weather was a factor, winds was the excuse, i beleive it was the propulsion. The next ship behind us made it to Grand Turk. All we could do in wave to them.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
We got off as soon as possible. We had a flight to catch, they had no problem letting us go first in line.

That was more generous than they had to be to fulfill their contract. You should send them a thank you and perhaps soe flowers to customer service. Sounds like because they couldn't dump you at any ports they had to feed and entertain you at their expense the whole time.

Sorry you had a bad experience. Things can and do happen to cause itinerary changes and missed ports. As the cruise contract everyone agrees to states, that the ports and itinerary are not guaranteed. The only refund they are required to give are any port charges already paid for ports that were missed. Hopefully you had a good comprehensive travel insurance policy that will provide some compensation for the missed ports and itinerary change.

Sorry for your experience, but they were generous to give you $50 per port back. The elation was our first cruise (2 yrs ago), and we LOVED it. So much that we booked the Magic last March. That was a horrible experience, and I could not wait to get off that ship. My husband (and several others) got food poisoning. We paid extra for a balcony and couldn't use it half the time. They said they were doing maintenance (no problem as they would do it while we were in Port)...they needed us out of our room to do so. We were on a 7 day cruise and 5 out of the 7 days they had our balcony completely closed off. We had an employee knock loudly on our door at 3AM to give us our final bill (I didn't experience that on the elation). Eating lunch and had an employee start vacuuming under our table....the list goes on. I did file a complaint and even talked to them. They offered us a $25 onboard credit to use on another cruise within a year. I just gave up to be honest even though I was very disappointed because we spent so much money to go on this "relaxing" cruise and it was anything but. So this year, we booked our first Royal Caribbean cruise. I understand everyone will have different experiences, staff is different, etc etc. My husband's Aunt and uncle went on the Magic recently and enjoyed it, so I figured we just got bad service. It stinks, but I would suggest trying a different cruise line

Sorry you had that experience. We were on the Sunshine when it tilted on its side but hey we didn't sink we kept it moving and made the best of it.

Sorry you didn’t have a great experience, but you don’t have a leg to stand on. Did you read your cruise contract? They are not giving you a refund or a free cruise because of bad weather or anything else. Again sorry you didn’t enjoy your trip possibly try a different cruise line next time, or the waters are a lot smoother if you go in the summer time.
