Sail date: June 04, 2018

Ship: Carnival Elation

Cabin type: Inside

Cabin number: U151

Review summary

Needs to have more staff especially monitoring for slick floors. Needs elevator dedicated to elderly and disabled only and have more room for navigating motorized wheelchair/scooters. Would be nice if you change attitude of general public but that is impossible. So many rude people and very frustrated.

Denam60 I’m sorry to hear you had issues. JayRCruiser is right though. The Elation is one of the oldest ships in Carnival’s fleet - because of its age and small deck plans there is limited room for wider walkways, etc....seems unfair I know. I’m not in a scooter but cruised once 4 days before a joint replacement surgery and remember hobbling around on a walking cane getting bumped into all the time. Like Jay said the larger mega ships have thought this through a little better and you would have a better experience. You also have to consider which ports you choose . I remember avoiding beach excursions where I knew I couldn’t walk on deep, loose sand. It’s frustrating but I think you can have a great cruise with more planning than others have to do. Hope your next cruise is better for you!

Your concern is valid, however keep in mind that you chose one of CCL's oldest and smallest ships, so realities of space and dedicated access is limited. A modern ship is larger to allow more space and offer more elevators to accommodate all guests. Be mindful of the ship you cruise on to determine how they can handle accommodations. As far as people's attitudes, the ship nor company can really control that. Sometimes cruises make people feel superior and entitled unfortunately. Hopefully your next experience is better.
