Review summary

This was our first and last cruise. It was a horrible experience and will never do it again

Embarkation

1 out of 5
was not as scooter friendly as they made it seem. Rather uncomfortable and hard to move around. Crew was of no assistance.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

1 out of 5
IF horrible was open that's what it would be. Almost all of the food and beverage staff were so RUDE it was crazy. But why should they be nice they are not earning the tips as behavor. It is automatically charged for each staff member. So they dont have to be nice or helpful. 3 times while i was on the ship i had to wait for the bartender to wipe/clean the entire bar area before they would serve me a SODA. I had the soda package and it was the most inconvient and rude thing to try and get one. then they gave it to me in a GLASS and refused to open the can and give me the can. The ship was so rocky i was scared to death i was going to fall and land on broken glass. The whole dining experience was dreaded on each meal. Not one cooks was friendly or kind. I was in a scooter and they would only serve things regular people couldn't reach. NOT ADA Standard and not a truely handicap accessible ship

Onboard Activities

1 out of 5
i was again in a scooter and was told several times good luck when i couldn't find a set that was even a little easy to sit on. So we didn't do much. Stayed in our room.

Entertainment

Service and Staff

Except one dining staff member and one guest relations. Sharon for the dining staff and i can't remember the guest relations name. Everyone was rude/ snooty/ dismissive to me/ uncaring/ ignorant

Ship tip

DON'T DO IT. I talked with alot of people who said other bigger ships are better. My husband and i had trouble with every part of the cruise even sleeping as we both wear cpaps and no plugs by the bed. I mean come on. Electric outlet by the bed is common sense.

Ports of call

Half Moon Cay, Bahamas (Private Island) Did not visit port

getting to the departure area was so hard in my scooter.

Nassau, Bahamas

I have only had great experiences on my cruises including one on the elation was so good I’m doing another on the Elation in 10 days .. sounds like you went into this with a poor attitude.. cruises have to cater to the masses and try hard to accommodate.. and I think they do a great job

That's why I don't prepay pay my tips. You don't do that at a restaurant so why prepay on a cruise. I remove tips the very day I book the I tip at the end of the cruise accordingly.

We've taken several cruise with carnival and just recently went on the elation. Staff was definitely the rudest we have ever encountered. Recommend another ship.

Yes, tips are automatically charged but they can also be removed. I’m a platinum cruiser with Carnival and have NEVER removed my tips. In many cases, I have even given extra to those employees who have gone above for me. Some cruises the service has been better than others but never has it been as bad as you described. My wife always gets the soda package and takes her own Tervis. The bartenders have all been very accommodating by opening the can, filling her Tervis, and then giving her the the remainder. I’ve seen Carnival employees on Lido take plates from people on crutches, using scooters etc and take them to tables. I’ve had some folks at the buffet stations not converse but that seems to be more of a language barrier than rudeness. I’ve had others who have been extremely nice to me and after a day or so know how I want my omelet etc. I love cruising and I have found that while not everything on every cruise is perfect, more times than not, a positive attitude goes a long way towards making for a much more pleasant experience in all things.

We were on the Elation last month (April) for 8 days and it was excellent. For folks who look down on Carnival, there are many other choices out there... but keep looking at the Carnival feeds so that you can post here telling everyone how you hate Carnival (even after 2 1/2 years,..) Or maybe just move on?

Sorry cruising doesnt seem to be for you. In all of my cruises, I dont think I've encountered not one rude or unhelpful staff person on either Carnival or Royal Caribbean. I'm so happy to be on board and on vacation, I dont allow small things to upset me.

We just got off Elation on the 13th. Had a wonderful experience met several ppl on scooters as well as wheelchairs. Staff and customers were more than accomodating. Apparently cruising is not for you. Apparently you were too demanding.

First mistake was booking with Carnival. I hated it. I will cruise with Royal Caribbean from now on

I would like to know what happened as well. My first cruise is coming up in two weeks. I’m sorry your experience was bad

What went wrong? I’m so sorry you had a bad experience. I’ve been on a lot of cruises and have loved them all.
