Disappointing. Not sure if I will cruise again in the Caribbean.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Embarkation was great! We had early boarding since we had selected 2 Grand Suites for our trip.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
Food was mediocre for the most part. Nothing special. I wish they would offer Spring water, not Purified water for purchase. Service in the dining room was excellent.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
Gym was clean and a good selection of equipment.
Entertainment
3 out of 5
Comedy shows were only 30 minutes. One comedian was good the other awful.
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
We had selected 2 connecting suites for our trip of 7 siblings. It took a couple of hours before the staff could locate the key to the connecting doors. Our travel agent had promised we had connecting balconies, but there was a big wall separating our balconies. This was VERY disappointing. Of course she was off on embarkation day, so we couldn't reach her.
Ship Quality
3 out of 5
Common areas were clean and well maintained.
Cabin / Stateroom
3 out of 5
This suite had a lot of space and plenty of seating area. They need to add electric plugs by the beds. We needed to have 2 CPAP machines plugged in. We had to request 2 extension cords to reach the vanity area where the plugs were. They have added a few USB ports, but that's only for phone charging.
I didn't care for the bathtub in the bathroom. It was very high and difficult to get in and out with 2 knee replacements and a bad back.
Ship tip
Book the Chef's Table! It was a great experience! We loved it.
Getting a cab was very chaotic. We took a cab to the Atlantis for lunch. Lunch was good, but we had to go into the smokey casino to enter the restaurant. We ate at Olives. It was good, not great.
Elation is one of Carnival’s older smaller ships. These ships don’t have a lot of bells and whistles. I would try a larger newer ship. I am pretty sure the partition between the balconies can be removed you just have to ask your room steward.
So you got a suite with the jetted tubs when you could have just gotten a balcony cabin with a standard walk in shower and made things easier for yourself. Or you could have booked a handicapped accessible room for ease in mobility. You express that you needed extension cords for CPAP machines but it seems that you were accommodated so I'm not sure why this was an issue. If you had conducted proper research, you would have known these things in advance. Other than that, it seems like you let little things like a separated balconies ruin your trip. It seems that you're one of the types that is never happy with anything.
