Overall, a great experience. Got out of the snow and ice for a few days and cruised in the sunshine. No cooking or cleaning or worrying about work is ALWAYS a good time!! Carnival makes it affordable.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Embarkation went very smoothly. Porters and embarkation staff were efficient and friendly. Showed up at our "appointment" time and we were on the ship in about 20 minutes.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
Main dining room dinner was excellent, both service and food. Where the evening specials were not something I was interested in, there was always the flat iron steak, which was tender and tasty! Guy's and the Blue Iguana were nice options for lunch, and the buffet had a good variety. Did I love every single thing they had on the buffet? No, but there were plenty of options and I was always able to find something I liked, even if it was Pizza Pirate. The one suggestion that I would make is that there should be more staffing at the coffee bar (Musical Cafe). Unless you showed up RIGHT at opening time, there was always a long wait for coffee -- morning AND afternoon.
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
Didn't participate in many activities, other than a couple of trivia games. Spent most of my time on the sun deck -- there were plenty of loungers available and staff did a nice job of keeping the area clean and tidy. Could have used more "beverage assistants."
Entertainment
4 out of 5
Comedians were great, stage shows were pretty good but not awesome. There was a high school jazz band onboard that was every bit as good as the "professionals." Too bad they weren't advertised more. Steel drum guy and lounge bands were good.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Every single staff person I interacted with was polite, friendly and seemed genuinely happy to have me as a customer. The only exception was one bartender in Red Frog who was run off his feet at the time -- he was still polite, just visibly stressed out.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
Very nice update to decor in latest dry dock. Everything was clean and refreshed. The only things I noticed were damage to the railing out on the back deck off Lido/Pizza Pirate (by the life preserver), and wear on the upholstery in the Mikado Lounge. Even those were still clean.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
3 adult women and their luggage (and shoes) in an interior cabin and we all fit just fine. Beds were gloriously soft and snuggly, linens were crisp and clean! Definitely need more power outlets in general, but the USB outlets were also appreciated. Nicely updated.
Ship tip
This is a smaller ship, so you will feel the motion of the ocean! Go with a good attitude, be flexible and have a sense of humor and you will have a fantastic vacation.
Same as it always is. Did notice a few more police on the streets than last time we visited, but no problems. Check out Pirate Republic Brewing on Woodes Rogers Walk if you like craft beers -- friendly staff and good beer!
Typical delays in getting off the ship. We did self-assist and it still took forever -- friends who checked their luggage and were in group 11 were off the ship right behind us. Still, it takes time to get that many people and their stuff unloaded and out the door. Book a later flight and don't stress out.
