Review summary

Horrible cruise line! Would use a different cruise line and travel some where than going on carnival!! Most of the staff could not speak English. The only activity was gambling while on boat unless your a drinker!

Embarkation

3 out of 5
It was not good.. a bunch of information not given. Most of the staff was rude. Not all drinks and food are free. You pay a lot for tips whether they serve you or not. Rooms are smaller than website shows. However, we will go another cruise but not with carnival

Go with a ship with more to do other than gambling your money away!

I have been on The Dream which is a bigger boat.. The Elation is by far my favorite ship.. Don't believe "most of the ship didn't speak English".. There is plenty to do on this ship.. plenty.. #bestcruiselineever

I believe Kevin the Cruise Director has lots of stuff going on because I’ve cruised with him before. 80s and 90s music trivia, Welcome Aboard Show, Hasbro Game Show....the list of activities is long!

I meant dream class not claw LOL

If you want a good Carnival experience go on a dream claw ship ( magic, beeeze or dream) or go on the newest ship Vista. I’m not crazy about the fantasy class ships (elation, paradise, fascination, fantasy, etc) but I sail on them occasionally for a short cheap cruise.

The Elation just returned from drydock on the October 7th sailing. All new cabins, decor, waterworks, Guys Burger Joint, etc.

I have been on the Elation three times and that was not my experience. Everyone I encountered spoke English and there was always something to do besides gamble and drink, which I do neither. It is all in what you make of it.

Only gambling and drinking? There must have been a lot of starving folks after a few days at sea. Unless they were winning on the slots and tables, oh, and getting free drinks. In that case - who needs food!

So not true! Sounds like you didn’t look very hard!

Did you ever look at your Fun Times newsletter? They leave it in your room every night and it lists all the activities that they have going on the following day.

There is so much to do... I had my husband going to shows everyday sometimes two or three times. We went gambling something we both enjoy doing, comedy shows, walked the ship! Omg we needed s vacation after the cruise. Our kids laughed at us saying the day we got back home we went to bed at 7pm. Lol we enjoyed ourselves

Too bad these negative reviews can be linked to the ship itself. It doesn't represent a true rating/ review among the cruise community. Could just as well left a poor pitiful me rant without a review attached to it. 💙⚓️💙💁🏼

Only thing to do?! What about nightly shows, comedy. Then there’s the game shows in the afternoon. Please also consider the ship you went on is the Elation. I have been on it. It’s old and doesn’t have all the fun activities something like Vista would. You get what you pay for. Also, yes every cruise lines staff is full of multi national crew, not just carnival. They all speak English in my experience. It sounds like to paid 299$ for a 3-4 day cruise on an old ship expecting the amenities of a 7 day cruise on a new boat. You get what you pay for. Sounds like the only reason you had a bad time is because of your own hang ups

The Elation is my favorite! The staff have always been so friendly. There is a ton of stuff to do on ALL of the boats.

Omg. You mean not everyone was like you? Sorry were not all cookie cutter people! If you do your research you can see the room dimensions! Embarkation is a room full of people waiting to get on the ship... Did you think it was a tea party??? Good luck with whatever you do! You obviously didn't look at the funtimes because there is stuff to do all over the ship! ✌

Sorry but thats the first I have ever heard not speaking English an we have been on 6 Carnival ships. Every cruise has been wonderful in every way. Possibly cruising isnt for you.

That's funny I have sailed on Elation twice and never met anyone that couldn't speak English
