Review summary

Really disappointed. For what we paid we should have had all the bells and whistles, fun, staff interaction, amazing food, like our friends did on all their carnival Cruise. I don't think I can trust anyone else that says a cruise ship is amazing due to our ship.

Embarkation

I felt we should have been greeted with smiles and drinks. No organization at all.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

1 out of 5
Was not impressed. Actually we were disappointed. This was our first cruise. Our 16yr anniversary, the food was cheap filet mignon, buffet was disgusting, and we ate pizza almost every meal because of the food.

Onboard Activities

1 out of 5
Bingo was all the time. The main pool was small and didn't hold many people. The other 2 were size of hot tub. The casino was ok. The comedy show was ok. They only did pool deck activity during day.

Entertainment

1 out of 5
Dj by ool was good. But again only in morning and mid day. Not evening or night fun.

Service and Staff

2 out of 5
They don't really speak to you. And they act like you bother them when trying to bring conversation. Or they didn't understand what you were saying. They all Spike German to each other.

Ship Quality

Nassau, Bahamas

We tried shopping but the locals were just way to pushy. So we sat on dock and admired carnival Dream ship.

Disembarkation

We were off the ship in 20 min waiting time.

WOW... I bet that you would complain if you won the multi-million dollar lottery... 99% of cruisers LOVE the same experience that you are complaining about... If you want to know what the real problem is... Look in the mirror.

I meant TLC, not TCL, whoops, lol.

I do a lot of research before booking. I look at ship plans, ports, activities, stuff like that. It came down to itinerary & price when we booked Elation. An older ship is worth Half Moon Cay, at least to me.

There's a ton of newer, larger ships with more bells & whistles. CCL is about to give Elation a month long dry dock. Most dry docks are 2 weeks max. They seem aware she needs the extra TCL.

This will be my 3rd time on the Elation. I have been on the Dream and Triumph and I still like the Elation better. yes it is an older ship and smaller, but I don't like a crowded ship. I will be going in Dec. If you try a cruise during the off season, it is better in my opinion. ships are way to crowded and noisey during peak season.

I found the Elation to be very enjoyable. In hindsight, Western Caribbean has become pedestrian. We don't sail the ship any longer....we sail for destinations.

I'm also going in December. The 2nd.

We had a fantastic time on the Elation. Yes it's a older ship but the staff and everything else made up for it. Can't wait to go again in Dec after renovations.

It's about to be totally redone in 2 weeks. It's my favorite ship, but the people made it so awesome that I didn't care if the ship was old. Awesome Cruise Director and the crew is so sweet.

Other than air conditioning can you elaborate on the other issues? We are booked on this ship in October and are excited about the 2.0 upgrade it is scheduled for in September....

it went into a dry dock last year too. the problem is they only fix a few minor things each dry dock session. this ship needs a complete rebuild. all the other 7 ships I've been on have been fantastic though, this was the only letdown.

It's going into dry dock in another week. Lol

the elation was the worst carnival ship of ever been on, by far.

I agree! We were without air 2 nights and power one day!
