Overall we enjoyed the time away. The ports are fun though we would have rather went to Nassau as originally planned before they switched it to Princess Cays. Not sure if we will travel with Carnival again as the cost people pay for cruises you should get impeccable service and amenities.
Embarkation
3 out of 5
Carnival sets appointment times but doesn't follow so lines were miserably long in the hot terminal. We were there at 12:30 for our 12:30-1 time and people ahead of us had 2 o'clock times. Staff was friendly though.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
1 out of 5
We only ate at Tiffany's and the grill. Food left alot to be desired. Lukewarm at best, selection was very limited and breakfast was the same everyday. I guess we are a little spoiled from our previous cruises on other lines. Service was lacking too, not once did we ever get an offer to refill a drink or ask how our meal was.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
The schedule is full. Always something to do. Trivia was fun just wish all trivia events were not anywhere near smoking. We couldn't participate in several because they were held next to casino where the smell of smoke is horrible.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
Stage shows were good. Comedy was great from one performer the other not so much. Music activities were fun.
Service and Staff
3 out of 5
Room steward was friendly as well as restaurant staff just not very outgoing. They seem to do the bare minimum. No going above and beyond.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
It is an older ship but overall clean and maintained.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
Great updated room. Spacious for the two of us.
Ship tip
Maybe bring snacks especially if you have picky eaters.
Doesn't make sense as to why the 4th deck had to drag luggage from room to 8th and 9th deck just to get elevator back to 3rd. Seems as if this process could be streamlined. They did hold passengers accountable to staying if it wasn't their deck.
You pretty much covered the bases, although I went to Carnival's other private island, Half Moon Cay, shared with Holland-American. I thought the food was mediocre, even though the Chef's Table had a few hits among the misses. Check out my video and see how your experience aboard Elation compared to mine.
