Review summary

This was our first cruise and while there were good parts, our overall view was overshadowed with the bad. Our room staff and wait staff were amazing! Luh, Robin, and Romeo made every dinner experience fantastic! However, the last day (day at Sea) was very frustrating. We didn't have any plans other than to lounge by the pool, let rhe kids swim, and visit with our other family onboard. At around 4:30 in the afternoon we were kicked off of our lounge chairs so the crew could clean the deck and PAINT the ceiling WHILE we were still cruising. This is completely unacceptable! Very rude to your PAYING guests. The day before was also rough. We had run out of sun screen and I went to buy some. The guest service informed me that the onboard store that carried it was closed until 2 and that I could buy some at the gift shop on the island (Half Moon Cay). We got off and went straight there. It was closed. We asked several employees when it would open and nobody had an answer. We wasted several trips back to continue to check and it was never open. I asked guest services and she informed us the shop would not open all day. Then laughed at me when I asked where I could get sunscreen and just shrugged her shoulders. We ended up borrowing some from other travelers who had been to that island 3 times and said the shop had never been open on all their trips. So the crew sent us on a wild goose chase knowing all along it would not open. And to only have sunscreen available to purchase in 1 store that doesn't open until afternoon is rediculous. Definitely should look into making your customers a better priority. And guest services employees could learn a few things from the wait staff when it comes to respect and treatment of guests.

I think your lack of cruise knowledge is the problem with your complaint. Anytime the ship is in port the onboard shops are closed. Carnival my own the island you went to but rents out the facilities to vendors, so it is more than reasonably possible that they had no idea the store on the island was closed and why should they know, the vendor isn't apart of CCL as I understand. The ship is in a CONSTANT state of maintenance and other places for your convince were probably painted the night before (yes, I've seen them do this). But the silver lining, if you will, is that you met some lovely people who shared their sunscreen with you and you got a notch in your belt on the ins and outs of being a responsible cruiser.

There's another pool on the top deck in the back

Once again an entitled person does not do basic preparations for a Caribbean cruise and it is the cruise lines fault. This same person would probably complain that the paint was peeling or rust was on the ceiling. When are they supposed to paint?

A what you should pack on a cruise (5sec Google sesrch) would have gone a long way to making your trip a lot more fun

we went on Freedom of the Seas a couple of years ago and had to move for the crew to paint. We just moved somewhere else. Understood they don't have down time to do this.

So your lack of preparation made Carnival look bad? The ship is in constant motion and they do not have time to do maintenance in shore. I'm sure there were plenty of places you could have gone. The most important thing to remember is to be flexible.

I'm sorry for your misunderstanding. I wish I was there partying with Kevin and the Fun Squad instead of doing college homework and housework.
