Review summary

From parking in handicap area till exiting the ship we were treated kindly, with friendly professional staff. Monica and another young male wheeled my 87 year old mom and me who had a fractured ankle from entrance to terminal to our room on embarkment  which took over an hour due to a missing document. They were wonderful happy people and kept my mom calm.  Our cabin was fantastic...steps from the elevator and customer service area on the Empress deck 7. It accomadated the mobility scooter I rented and that was a life savior for me. Mid trip there was an issue with scooter handle and special needs company and a Carnival superwoman were able to fix in about an hour. Best investment ever if you want to enjoy the views and have mobility issues.

The evening shows were high energy and may have been too much for my mom. We stayed on the ship during the half moon port and enjoyed spa services getting hair done and I had gel nails with French manicure. Excellent application.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

we had requested early dining, but realized too late our card said anytime dining. Would never choose anytime. Did not get to know staff, other travellers at dinner, and it was either slow service or rushed thru appetizer, dessert, not relaxed or personal as in past cruises. Other than this experience, food was good. Other venues served excellent entrees and we enjoyed Mongolian grill, room service, deli grill, and omelet station. Crusiants made fresh on ship are to die for! So is the famous "chocolate melting cake"!

Ship tip

Be sure to choose early or late dining. You can always skip a dinner one night if you want a change. Fine dining with staff and perhaps fellow travellers you get to know has always been one of the best experiences when cruising for us.

We were given the tip to sign up ahead for the Hilton day experienceapprox 10 minute walk from ship. It was $60 each and included $40 food credit which amounted to lunch and 2 drinks. Veryverynice and I would go there again. Private beach, large pool, beautiful and close. The problem for us, forgot email and took long time to find on line, they had no record, finally got resolved. I chose this because I wanted to use the mobility scooter and thought mom could walk 10 minutes. Don't do this! Sidewalks, streets, cobblestones, oh my, traffic, hawkers, braid ladies, very very difficult to get there for us. If you are fit and used to hiking, no problem, but we took cab back for $15 with scooter hauled.
