Review summary

For a first ever cruise, I learned a lot.  #1 - don't let them take your bags unless you pay the exorbitant insurance rates.  They don't give claim checks and they just leave your bags in the hallway outside of your room so anyone can take.  We had a laptop bag filled with electrical and phone cords disappear and we are just out of luck because we did not take the insurance.  I think someone walked off with it because it was small and just laying in the hallway and someone might have thought it had a laptop in it.

Food was OK and entertainment was minimal.  There were only 2 stops and 2 full days at sea. for my next cruise, i would like more stops.  Cozumel was very nice and many excursions to pick from. Progreso was not very nice unless you wanted to visit ruins.  it was NOT a place to just roam around in.

Our intent for this cruise was a family get together and that went very well so all in all, a successful first cruise.  Almost every worker we encountered or walked past on the cruise gave a cheerful greeting every time.

Seemed pretty old

Cabin / Stateroom

TV was old and the picture was pretty green. The hot water in the shower was super hot and water temperature changed throughout one shower. Drawers were old and sticky so difficult to close. The large box that holds the life jackets was in the way so we could not walk around the bed. made it difficult for late night potty breaks. The rest of the room was really nice and spacious, even the bathroom was nice.

Ship tip

The melting chocolate cake was excellent. i ate it at every dinner.

Learned a lot about the island on our excursion and really enjoyed the tour guides

Progreso (Merida), Mexico

we did not do an excursion - we should have. Just roaming around did not work out well. Vendors bombarded us constantly, walked with us begging us to buy something or eat at their restaurant. they never took no for an answer

Sorry to hear about your bag being stolen. I was wandering about bag just sitting outside of someone room. Wait!? Don't you have to sit your bags out in the hallway the night before on your way back home as well?
