Review summary

All in all the cruise was a bargain for a little over $200. Great chance to relax and spend time with friends. We were a little worried that the ship would be outdated and small but it was a very nicely updated ship. We did get tired of eating the same things for breakfast and lunch everyday. They could have changed it up a bit more.

We did the Playa Mia beach excursion for $39. The beach was pretty but beware of the rocks that lurk in the water. The wife busted her toenail. Drinks are plentiful if you let the wait staff know they will get a tip at the end of the day. Just remember...if you buy something you're not getting your best deal unless you walk out of the store at least once. They will chase you down and reveal to you the lowest price. If you make them mad then you know you got a good deal.

Progreso (Merida), Mexico

We didn't do an excursion as Progresso but rather just walked around the flea market and and roamed the street shops and beach. The street peddlers bombarding us with their items to sell got really old really fast. They don't seem to leave you alone. Be sure you don't pay over a dollar for a Corona. The locals try to take advantage of you every chance they get.

Pros: Updated ship, fun dinning room wait staff, relaxing hot tubs

Cons: Drinks too expensive. A beer shouldn't cost $6.61 a piece.

Recommends Carnival Elation? Yes!
