Review summary

Carnival does a great job with their cruises! This was my second cruise, the first was on the Holiday last year. The Elation was bigger but even with more people it was not appreciably more crowded. The ship was clean. There were plenty of activities for my 13-year-old. Dinner meals were very good with lots of selections. We had great service. All staff was very well trained and courteous. Good entertainment - especially the Legends show on the last night.

We did very little in Progresso. Some shopping and swimming. I prefer shopping in Cozumel. Weather was very balmy! The town is dirty. The ride from the dock to town is a mess and access to/from the ship to town is under construction. Quite an eye sore. It appeared that there has been no progress on that construction from last year. We took the Chichen Itza tour last year. Progresso may be a nice starting place for a tour, but that's about it. Save your time for Cozumel if it's on the itinerary.
Don't Miss: See the Mayan ruins.

Playa Palancar was a great side trip. We took a taxi to this beach on the leeward side of the island - south or the cruise terminal. It was not crowded even though there were two Carnival ships in town on the same day. Shopping is fun and the town is much nicer than Progresso.
Don't Miss: Playa Palancar beach. The roundtrip taxi ride was $20/pp and included snorkel and kayak for no extra charge.

Pros: Legends show, food, service, cleanliness

Cons: Too much to do and not enough time.
