Review summary

It was our 10th Carnival Cruise and 4th of 2019!

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Embarkation delayed 3 hours due to late arrival because of fog. This prevented anyone from coming to pier any earlier. We and everyone else from being turned around at the entrance. So, if they say arrive 3 hours later, they mean it. That is fine and understand and will remember for the future. Experience of embarkation was good and smooth considering the late start.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
All was good and no better or worse than the experience on the previous 9 Carnival Cruises. Of note, there are no specialty restaurants on this ship. We always have a good experience with the food and staff.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Nothing really to comment on here of significance. Standard events, but first time seeing the daily Hanukkah event each evening.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Enjoyed welcome aboard and the two shows that occurred during our visit. Live musicians were good.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Always enjoy the friendliness of all the Carnival staff. I believe this is the primary reason for us to cruise with Carnival. We always run into staff that we have seen on previous cruises. TIP: I always note the names of the staff on my phone so that I can make comments by name on the Carnival Survey. This is extremely important for the staff to get positive reviews.

Cabin / Stateroom

Had an ocean view room. This is the 3rd time we were able to have our daughter with us and the smallest room by far. We knew this going in so no surprise. This is the second time on Ecstasy and remembered that there is minimal room for personal belongings in the bathroom. We have been on two other similar class ships (Fantasy and Elation) both of which seem to have more shelf space.

Ship tip

Mentioned earlier but bathroom has less shelf space than other ships of this class.

Ports of call

Nassau, Bahamas

Been here many times, but first time going to the Fish Fry area. It was well worth it and actually looking forward to returning. It is about a mile walk from the Straw Market. You walk by the beach. I will there wasn’t so much trash along the way, but felt safe. Did our homework so knew what restaurant we wanted to go. There are many of good ones to choose from. We went to Oh Andros. We were the first customer of the day, but it was packed with locals and tourists by the time we left. So much food. We will be back!

Freeport, Grand Bahama Island

This was our fourth time here so we stayed local. It appears that they are really building up the pier area. As many of you know, the pier area has minimal things to do and glad to see improvements they are making. Considering that a Cat 5 hurricane sat over Freeport for a record amount of time just months earlier the port looked to be in great shape. Thanks to a lot of hard work, I’m sure.

Disembarkation

We had FTTF and the benefit of leaving early was very important. We met in the main theater and stared heading out at 7:35. We were in our vehicle and heading out just after 8am. That was great!
