Review summary

This was my second time on The Ecstasy. We brought my parents, sister and niece and 4 of our children with us this time. Disembarked the ship totally confident that this was the last and final time sailing with Carnival.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
Very easy to get on the ship. What to do thereafter needs to be worked on.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
The food was mediocre. The buffet needs a lot of work in the diversity of the food served. I. Ever want to see any type of mousse again. Every day there was mousse on the buffet, just a different flavor. The Wind Star Dining Room staff is very disorganized. We waited over 3 hours one bight for dinner. No bueno.

Onboard Activities

2 out of 5
Outsdated ahip with limited options.

Entertainment

1 out of 5
Gary the cruise director is awesome. There were just a limited amount of shows.

Children's Programs

3 out of 5
My children enjoyed the programs. They were very organized.

Service and Staff

1 out of 5
The employees work very hard on this ship.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
It’s time to retire The Carnival Ecstasy. Long overdue.

Cabin / Stateroom

Ship tip

Be prepared to spend thousands for mediocre food and entertainment.

Ports of call

Charleston, South Carolina

Princess Cays (Cruise Line Private Island)

3 out of 5
It is what it is. A tourist depot. Nothing but tourists standing in long, hot lines for boring food.

NancyV62 We love that ship... We are going to be on her again in a few weeks... She is older and smaller but beautiful... the shows were amazing... We are disappointed that she's moving to Florida... Next year we are booked on a lot bigger ship (breeze) and we have read good and bad on that one as well.. I look at it this way "it's what you make of it" Go have fun and enjoy yourselves

Hello, if you read some of the other posts from others who also sailed on The Carnival Ecstasy on July 23, 2018, we all basically have the same complaints. The fixtures on the ship are old and outdated. Keep in mind that this is the second oldest ship in the fleet. Even with “modern” updates, the ship is old and has wear and tear all over. Molded, rusted fixtures in the bathroom. Sub par, unreliable plumbing. The accommodations on the ship lack as well. Many of the new ships have features that are just not available on this ship. The food was ordinary food that you can make in your kitchen and not pay nearly as much for. The Wind Star Dining room was overwhelmed and the service was slow each and every night.

Try Triumph or Dream. Ecstasy was by far our least favorite.
