Our family of seven had a fabulous time from start to finish even though the private island trip was cancelled due to Hurricane Maria. Only drawback was the septic smells

Review summary

Except for cancelled stop to Princess Cay the cruise was fabulous. Would definitely book Carnival in future. All night pizza was a plus. Beverage package well worth it. Staff was great. Ship smell not so much but we managed to ignore it.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
As efficient and friendly as it could be but still a long process Lunch as soon as we boarded was a nice welcome!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The scheduled dinner each night was excellent! Wait staff and chefs were great accommodating the gluten free medically necessary requirements for two family members.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
LOVED the slide and poolside DJ activities. However some scheduled game competitions at the pool never took place.

Entertainment

3 out of 5

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Room steward was extremely anxious to please. Formal dining room staff took a day to "warm up" but we're terrific the rest of the cruise

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Ship layout was easy to follow and very efficient after a day or so. Ship was visually very clean But the bathroom smell throughout the ship room decks from day 1 was unsettling.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Larger than expected, clean and quiet. Perfect.

Ship tip

It was a great price for a memorable, fun, enjoyable family vacation we otherwise never could have afforded! If you have a sensitive sense of smell pick another ship.

Ports of call

Charleston, South Carolina

5 out of 5
Friendly and efficient.

Princess Cays (Cruise Line Private Island)

1 out of 5
We were so disappointed this was cancelled and the substitute stop in Freeport was just a souvenir tourist trap. We bought some items and quickly returned to the ship because the transport to the beach (not walkable distance) was $40 per person!

Freeport, Grand Bahama Island

1 out of 5
Freeport was Awful. Nassau was much better where we went to local beach, Senor Pedro's and did a lot of shopping.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
Typical crowded rush to get everyone off but not too bad.

Why was stop canceled

pamhill7277    7 years ago

Why was princess cay cancelled? I'm going in December and just wondering if there was a problem with the island.

Did they offer any reimbursement for not porting at PC?

Why did they cancel this port! We leave thanksgiving week and I'm looking forward to this stop
