Review summary

Overall, we had great fun. But some areas for improvement are listed. Hit or miss food, friendly but often slow service. I'd probably suggest for 1st timers & those who love the low costs though I have a feeling the industry is competitive enough that you could probably find a similar price on a better ship.... Just being honest. Again FUN cruise...not the NICEST but Fun!

Embarkation

Overly complicated driving maze in huge parking lot to drive a few feet from where we started. Which ran us late for our check in. Staff was friendly though.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Staff was very friendly which makes a difference! But in the main dining areas & casino service was often very slow. We were kindly asked to be sure the entire party arrived on time for better service though we hadn't even officially complained. Problem was, once we all began arriving early or on time, the speed of service did not improve. Also the food was a BIG miss or HUGE hit. Too many of our group at more than 1 meal sincerely did not like their food. The great thing about that is the ability to just order something else. The downside is if it takes a long time to put in that second order or wait for your entire 1st order to arrive. But some food was completely over the top, hands down an entire party in & of itself. Drink service in the casino whether comp'ed or ordered was extremely slow. A minimum of 45 minutes is a bit ridiculous & may have been a tactic to make people stay. It made me leave.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
I used both small pools (wish they were bigger & not sure I liked the salt water), 1 jacuzzi, the gym, steam room, piano bar, quiz game area, sports "lounge", & slides. I don't think I saw hand towels in the gym. That would've been great to have... as well as an early morning circuit class to squeeze in a better fun workout. Was there an early morning water aerobics class? The pools were probably too small but that may be a nice extra to add w/ a limited sign up sheet due to space constraints perhaps if too many show otherwise. Also members in my parties were very disappointed that Bingo was deceptive... & apparently 1 winner who thought she was winning $1k only officially won $250 but was given around $700/$750 when the audience made a fuss.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Most entertainers & party staff including Cruise Director Gary & the magician, & game hosts & party crews were absolutely awesome. The stage musical participants, DJ, and band also did a wonderful job. Didn't find the comedian funny at all.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
This 1 is extremely hard to rank because on the 1 hand EVERYONE was so kind & MANY went ABOVE & BEYOND if asked.... but on the other, though beyond their control, I think perhaps Carnival MUST be under staffed for some services to take so long & have such a terrible delay.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Our group was surprised there were so few or such small trash cans onboard. And it seemed a bit complicated to access our main dining area. Go up and back and back down... even though it was on 7... the same floor we stayed & started on! I found the ship to be clean & well maintained though! I do wish there were less smoking areas. I'd like the ship even more if there was a movie theater and either a second pool area or a bigger pool.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
As expected. Beds were very uncomfortable though. We had enough space though.

Ship tip

Try to book a cabin near the front if the ship as many people complain of a sewage smell near the back.

Ports of call

Charleston, South Carolina

4 out of 5
As with all port cities, great food and shopping! Love the fact that it's only a few hours away!

Nassau, Bahamas

4 out of 5
Give us more time at port and begin the shorter excursions earlier. The Nassau Native Quest & Leroy = Awesome.... but it ran long. It would be awesome if we'd had from 8am until 7 or 8pm. It should be possible to book 2 excursions if 1 is short but it was not. What I thought about the port was a sincere wish that I had more time to see it.

Disembarkation

3 out of 5
Would've preferred if the lowest level exit had been opened up to more guests AND if another elevator was allowed to be in regular service to make dining & departure errands run more quickly & smoothly.

LOL. 😂😁 Newbies OR those who love great deals. I THINK someone who's been on a larger/newer ship MAY be tempted to allow comparisons to dampen the experience a bit. I listened to several comparisons on the trip & even overheard some "ship envy" at port when Disney & other vessels pulled up. But for those who LOVE a bargain OR won't have that problem with comparisons it'll be all the more appreciated.

Oh, so it is good enough for newbies, but NOT veteran cruisers (lol). Not picking on you. It just sounded funny.
