AHint Cruise Review on Carnival Dream on May 13, 2019

Most of the "hiccups" or "issues" with this particular cruise may have been out of Carnivals control, but it still made it unpleasant. Just issues I experienced were: #1. Flood in New Orleans where they were unable to unload passengers causing a delay to leave for Galveston. #2. Oil spill in the Gulf causing delays to get into port. However I did receive a recorded call, text, and email concerning the delay. #3. The gangway was damaged due to being struck by lighting. This made us have to load from deck 0 instead of 3. #4. 66 miles out a gentleman had a heart attack having to turn around to meet coast guard. Sadly the man passed on Wednesday. As all of those issues were not Carnivals fault, the other issues I feel was from a lack of organization. #5 We went to deck 7 laundry, no out of order signs, washed our clothes and then charged 5 times trying to find a dryer that worked. 1 of 6 was working. We attempted to use the phone to call guest services, did not work. Had to walk back to our room to call. Told our steward, who called a supervisor. 3 hours later with 3 trips from the supervisor, being charged now 9 times, we leave with damp clothes. Guest services did refund us, but nothing changed in the laundry room and others were effected too. #6 The majority of elevators did not work. With having a spouse with disabilities (multiple back and stomach surgeries from the military) made this difficult at times. #7 There was a constant smell of marijuana coming from the room next door to us, yes I know the smell being a 3rd generation law enforcement and married to law enforcement! We contacted guest services with no success. #8 The sewer smell on decks 9 and 10, just no words for. Really felt bad for the ones on that floor who were told there was nowhere to move them to due to being a sold out cruise. My son and friend came and slept in our room on the floor and couch. #9 The declaring of alcohol, oh how that was a nightmare. My husband witnessed 2 major fights, where people were escorted in handcuffs. One of the doors was messed up and the 2 lines had to merge. That made some angry! #10 Disembarkation: the diamond, platinum, and FTTF dropping luggage off in the restaurant was a mess. At the end of the FTTF line, there were chairs blocking off where staff was packaging the next cruise's pre-funshop orders. We were sitting in the chairs and people were determined to continue to place their luggage in line. One person even fell over luggage and landed on my husband. Now with all of this being said, I will cruise again. We were told by family friends who have cruised the Dream 7 times out of New Orleans that it was not like this for them. They suggested to not do a 4-5 day cruise, as they are known more for the party crowd. We will try a different ship and try to do a time that is more our style. (Less party, and children)

What are some things that happened? They may not be unique to the ship or the cruise line... Enjoyed your pics, btw!! :) Glad you posted them with titles/descriptions!

The majority of the issues that happened were out of Carnivals control..... our vacation carried on, yes some set backs but we still got to cruise. So many first time cruisers complaining about the issues that the ship experienced, not realizing most of them were out of Carnivals control.

What happened? On the Dream for the third time in January
