She is Just Too Old! This was my 118th cruise. I know a badly maintained ship when I see one. If this ship was a hotel, rates based on its current condition, I’d say it’s a LaQuinta Motel somewhere off the highway.
On a scale of 1-10, my overall rating is 5.5. It’s just nothing special at all.
Embarkation
3 out of 5
There was no line for Platinum or Diamond level cruisers when I arrived. It was just pretty much a free for all getting through.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
2 out of 5
This was truly nothing special. In fact, I think it was very close to the worst I’ve had. It was generally cold to luke warm- definitely not hot. The dining room food was more or less like eating in a Dennys. Not terrible but not great!
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
Not Bad. Kept folks entertained. Would like to have seen more activities outside on the pool deck.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
Two comics were ok. Bands were not so good, but acceptable I suppose.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
The staff worked very hard to please everyone. However, I was quite surprised to find that the cabin steward only serviced the room once per day at a specified time. If you missed that window, you were out of luck for that day.
Ship Quality
2 out of 5
This has to be the most disappointing part of my entire review. The ship is OLD and WORN OUT! The furniture is old, torn and stained. Paint is pealing from walls all over. Several Digital light bulbs that spell words were burned out, leaving you with no idea what it was supposed to say. This included the elevator, so you were not sure which floor you were on until after the doors opened.
The pool water was dirty, as the filter system was not working. It’s a wonder this ship is still sailing at all right now.
I did hear that is was overdue for Detrice bit could not go because it had to replace the sunrise which caught fire recently.
Cabin / Stateroom
3 out of 5
Old, worn, with the bottom of the closet broken. The bathroom sink and counter was stained. The towels were rough dried and scratchy.
Ship tip
If this ship fits your price range, or timeframe (which was the case with me when I came to timing) and you have no other choice, go ahead. But please understand what you’re getting and don’t over expect.
Something I didn’t understand. I never received luggage tags in my cabin, therefore had no idea when or how to put my bags out. I ended up carrying them off myself. My flight was delayed, so I did not rush. By the time I got off, the crowd was gone. So it was smooth.
I hope you still managed to have a good time. Conquest was always my favorite and I wish it could get the dry dock it needs. As for debarkation, it’s now on the Hub App. Tags should have been delivered to you after you chose the time. If you did not chose they consider you all set and you have to care for your own luggage.
I have never been on a bad ship nor a bad cruise 🛳. I don't do all those short cruises. I would get mad at myself and not want to get off. Hope your next one is better.
I can agree that this ship needs to be decommissioned. I believe since it is now doing the shorter cheaper cruises, it has a short life expectancy left. In other words, it is of less importance than the new class ships Carnival has. Carnival will soon replace all ships under the Vista class. Expect prices to sky rocket when it does, just like they have over at Royal Caribbean cruise line.
I find this to be an objective review from someone who has done 118 cruises. Seemed honest without embellishment or unrealistic expectations. I hope Carnival appreciates this feedback as much as I do. Thanks for your perspective and happy cruising!
