We ate dinner each night in the MDR. I was a little disappointed that the waiters no longer do the ‘shows’ but it did make for a much quicker dining experience. We had early dining and were typically finished and out the door between 7 to 715. Plus, now you order appetizer to dessert as soon as you sit down which I think sped things up. Our waiters were Paul, Kris, and Viktor and they took good care of us. We ate breakfast and lunch on Lido. Carnival seems to have changed up some of the menu items so things I’ve gotten the past weren’t available this time around. It’s a buffet so you can find something you like! Of course, some of it better than others so try it and if you don’t like, go with something else.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
We really didn’t participate in the activities but there always seemed to be something going on. Our goal was downtime and we got it.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
I thought the performers on this cruise were some of the best we’ve seen. We saw three shows, Heart of Soul, Flick, and 80’s POP to the Max. Enjoyed all three of them. We didn’t stay up late to see any of the comedians. Again, the rest and relaxation theme!
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Made was our room steward. He was attentive without being cloying. If we needed something, all we had to do was ask. He always spoke to us in the hall and made sure everything was going OK.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
Ships can be confusing in general. Use the maps. You’ll get the hang of it. And, as I tell my wife, it’s a ship. You really can’t get that lost! Just head back to the cabin.
Cabin / Stateroom
3 out of 5
Here’s where I struggle with a rating mainly because I think this was poor planning on my part. It was great to be on Lido especially since my wife hurt her knee getting off the shuttle bus so this made getting to and from the elevators and to the Lido restaurant easy. The cabin itself was fine. But, if you book this cabin, realize that the atrium from deck three opens all the way up to this deck. There was a band every night that played in the atrium until 1130 to midnight. That opening acts as as a funnel and you can hear EVERYTHING. I went to sleep most nights with a pillow over my head to drown out the noise. Again, this was more my fault for not realizing that when I chose this cabin! I
This was a little confusing this time around. Since we’re Platinum,we were told to be in the Renoir dining room at 815. We got there probably 745ish and there were very few guests in the area and no Carnival personnel. We’re rule followers so we waited and waited and waited some more. A gentleman did finally come in and told us what to do. Apparently, they had begun disembarking the Platinum guest when they began self assist. No big deal. It was the not knowing that was frustrating.
