We are not hard to please and usually do not complain about things but we were disappointed with the food on this ship and the service. I prefer the Western Caribbean over this itinerary. This was our 2nd time to Aruba and Curacao and really do not have a desire to go back there again.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
We took a shuttle from the hotel and arrived at the port by 10:30. Everything moved quickly and we were on the ship by 11:30. Probably one of the quickest Embarkations ever.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
2 out of 5
All my past Carnival reviews have been mostly positive but we were disappointed with the service and the food on this ship. The pizza on the Lido was about the only thing I really liked. The main dining room had grilled salmon as an option most every night and that was what I ate. It was very good. We did not like the new American table menu. Some of my favorites were not on the new menu. We also prefer table cloths to put our silverware on. Carnival needs to hire more help in the dining room. The waiters have too many people to take care of. Service was very slow because of this. They worked very hard but need to have less people to serve to speed up the service. Do not like the Deli having pre-made sandwiches now. The wraps tasted like they had just been taken out of the freezer.
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
There were no activities on this ship that I was interested in. I just enjoyed sitting on our balcony.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
We do not go to shows unless there are live musicians in the theater. The Conquest did have a couple of trios playing in the Atrium. The trio with trumpet, trombone and saxophone was the best on this ship! Carnival needs to start hiring more live musicians, especially in the theater.
Service and Staff
3 out of 5
Our steward Leny did a good job taking care of our rooms. We chose morning service but had him come in the evening just to add towels that we needed. Our dining staff was Orlin and Mata. Not sure if I spelled their names correctly. They were very nice and worked so hard but they had too many people to look after to be able to have fast service. That is Carnival's fault, not the servers. We loved our servers!
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
The ship was very clean! We liked the layout and size of the ship.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
Our beds were very comfortable except for the upper and sofa bed. They need to do something to improve the comfort of those beds. Our cabin was very clean!
Ship tip
Check the food on the Lido before you go to the dining room to see if they have the same thing you are going to order in the dining room. You will save a lot of time if they have the same thing. Make sure you download the Carnival Hub on your phone so you can check the menu ahead of time.
Water where we docked was full of trash. The water is not pretty and Carnival does not have a port there with stores. This was the worse port we have ever been to. My daughters and I got off for 15 minutes to see a few tables set up by locals. The guys in our family walked to the Colonial Zone. They said there were a lot of guards around protecting the tourist.
Took taxi to Blue Bay Beach for an hour and a half. $8.00 per person for the beach. Good snorkeling if you go out in very deep water. Taxi cab was $80 round trip. The ship arrived at 2:00 and left at 10:00. There is nothing to do after dinner because stores were closing up around 7:00 pm.
Now the steward comes in first day and ask if you want the room serviced morning or evening or both . Then you sign the paper with your chose. We definitely need towels morning and night but don’t care about having beds turned down. I chose morning but asked him to still bring the towels at night. One of my daughters liked that better so she wouldn’t have to wait for him to finish if she wanted in at night.
I was on the Conquest in December to Southern Caribbean as well. I to was very disappointed in the quality of food and the ship needs a complete makeover. Recently was in dry dock for upgrades to serenity and kids pool area but they should of done the entire ship, very run down.
