Review summary

As in all cruises, there is never enough time at each port to visit as much as you want to. Especially at Willemstad Curacao. Our arrival there was 1 pm and departure was 11 pm. Most of the shops in Willemstad close between 4pm and 5pm, local time, which is 1 hour later than ship's time. So, that left only a couple of hours to visit. I would suggest arriving much earlier in the day, if the itinerary could be arranged.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Fastest embarkation I've ever had.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The meals in restaurants was superb. The buffets were very acceptable. Better attention to choices for Gluten-free meals is needed, though.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
The only on-board activity I was interested in was for my wife...the spa...where she had a very relaxing time.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
For the most part, the shows were very well choreographed and fast moving. However, they sound was way too loud.

Children's Programs

We didn't have children with us nor did we know any children on board.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Our cabin steward, Eccene, was the most attentive of all we've ever known. His attention to detail and foresight into our needs was most impressive and gives Carnival a great reputation.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
All areas we visited were kept very clean and laid out and were easy to maneuver in and around. Except for photo shoot vendors. Those nights it was difficult and bothersome to move around them.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
The cleanliness and upkeep of the stateroom by Eccene and his staff was excellent. The mattresses laid out for a king size style would only rate a 7 out of 10. They were a bit lumpy and were difficult to get good rest from them.

Ship tip

If you're sailing with one other person or in a group, you will enjoy the layout of the ship and it's shops and amenities. Conquest is above average.

Ports of call

Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida Did not visit port

Not in our schedule.

Amber Cove (Puerto Plata), Dominican Republic

4 out of 5
The Outback Adventure excursion is well worth the money.

La Romana, Dominican Republic

4 out of 5
We didn't go beyond the terminal area at La Romana. Many of the excursions were for people who could walk quite awhile and that was not us.

Willemstad, Curacao

4 out of 5
We did walk quite a ways into Willenstad but had to stop often. We were impressed with the Dutch architecture and the Americanized shops.

Oranjestad, Aruba

4 out of 5
We took the sailaway and snorkel and lunch excursion. The snorkel portion could use a lot of cleanup of the equipment they give you, especially get rid of the mildew on the inflatable vests.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
We started our disembarkation at 8:00am and were on the road at 8:45 am. The long lines moved right along and the Carnival staff was very accommodating. I suggest that, if you can, you carry your own luggage off the ship and not check it. We carried ours and probably got a 90 minute to 2 hour head start on those who checked their luggage off the ship.
