Review summary

THIS WAS MY FIRST CRUISE ON THE CARNIVAL AND UNFORTUNATELY I WAS QUITE DISAPPOINTED AS I NEVER WENT ON A CRUISE WHERE YOU HAD TO WAIT TWO HOURS TO GET ON THE SHIP AS THEY WERE HAVING PROBLEMS.  FIRST OF ALL, I DO NOT THINK MY ROOM WAS COMPLETELY CLEANED AS THERE WAS A SHOE UNDER MY BED THAT WAS FROM A PREVIOUS TRAVELER. I NEVER WENT ON A CRUISE WHERE WE ARE OUT AT SEA FOR TWO DAYS AND THE STORES ARE UNDER RENOVATION. ON TUESDAY, THE MAIN POOL IS EMPTY FOR OVER A DAY. THAT IS UNACCEPTABLE. THE FOOD IN THE DINING WAS OKAY BUT I DID NOT EXPECT FOR THEM TO FORGET TWO OF OUR APPETIZERS AND COFFEE.  I MAY TRY ANOTHER TIME BUT NOT TO SURE IF IT IS WORTH IT.

You paid your hard earned cash, you expect a reasonable service, if not, then you have every right to make a complaint.

Nothing is perfect. Everyone at one time or another has had issues just get them fix and move on and enjoy you vacation because it's over before you know it. We are always one of the first on board so we watch everyone and how some of them complain on how long it took to board. There are lines and you have to be patient.

Boarding delays, be glad they were fixing things. Do you think they can weld the ship back together in the middle of the Atlantic. Get real! They doc one day and leave the same day give them a break. Your room was clean I'm sure for the shoe come on if you had to clean a million rooms you might miss a shoe or two.

At least you just had a shoe. We had a turd in our toilet. Definitely wasn't cleaned.

Most cruise liners recruit their service staff from poor/under developed countries, the wages they received are average in their native countries but definitely way below our standards. It's also known as cross boarder labour exploitation, having said that, it's also our fault in a way, majority of cruisers wants a cheap/good value holiday. The marketing strategies is cheap headline grabbing cheap prices. All employees are paid in US Dollars, If the Dollars devalues or drops against their native currencies their wages would be even worst of.

We always go prepaid gratuite, and tips extra for the waiting staff in dining and stateroom service.

cocochanel. We all know cruising is a very good opportunity and value to see the world without packing and unpacking at every destinations...just don't sing to many praises to the cruise liners otherwise they find ways to screw the cruisers For a Few Dollars More!

If I found a shoe I would see if it fit, and then complain that they lost the other one. If the main pool was closed I would of used the aft pool. And if they forgot my 2 appetizers I would tell them they owe me 4. I've been on a lot of carnival cruises and the only bad one I had was when we had a jumper. Screwed our arrival time up. Missed our flight. Happy cruising

Oh, and I'm going on the Conquest in 32 days. I can live with boarding delays, cigarette smoke, chair hogs, even closed shops or a dry pool - but they better not forget my coffee.

Normally when people complain I complain about their complaining and chalk it up to their unrealistic expectations. In your case I've seen multiple reports of the shops being closed, and theres no mistaking an empty pool or shoe under your bed. It sounds like Carnivals attempts at saving money (lets cut staff, resulting in 2 hour waits to get on the ship) or not go to dry dock or leave the ship in port for a week while they do repairs (if that ships not moving it's $ lost) has resulted in some dismal cruising experiences for folks. If they cut staff and one person is now cleaning twice as many rooms the shoe under your bed makes sense, and that's unfortunate because I've cruised Carnival for years and had mostly good cruises. While I can see why you may want to take your money elsewhere next time, don't paint with too broad a brush. All lines are cutting back. I was checking out Cunard Line reviews the other day, and even folks there were complaining....

Have you gone on another cruise line? If you liked another one better, then spend more and get what you like.
