It is easy to see that Carnival takes the time to properly train its employees. Every staff member is so friendly and accommodating. Our cruise director Eric had lots of energy and enthusiasm. They try to provide a well-rounded choice of entertainment, but the quality was so-so - see comments below. The food is what you'd expect when they're trying to feed over 3000 people everyday. It felt like eating hotel food, which after 8 days gets to be old. However, Guy Fieri's burgers and the pizza were top notch, but were the only things to look forward to. Overall, it was a nice, fun, convenient way for four families to vacation together.

Food and Dining
3 out of 5
The food was average. The buffets were too much of the same everyday. On Half Moon Cay the cooks charred the burgers to death. Who wants to eat a black, crispy hamburger patty?! Thank goodness for Guy Fieri's delicious burgers, the Iguana Cantina and the allows-open Pirate pizza for saving the day. All the steaks tend to be overcooked - Medium comes out Medium Well, Medium Well comes out Well done, etc., so you need to order it cooked to be one-level less than you'd usually order it.
Entertainment

A few of the early comedians provided good entertainment. Unfortunately one of the bookings couldn't make his flight so we were stuck with the same mediocre comedian for the last 3 nights. The singing/dancing group who put on nightly productions was absolutely horrible. Many of them could not sing on key, and they were singing at the top of their lungs and the speakers were way too loud. We gave up on them during night #2 since we couldn't tolerate their singing anymore. For the last 2 nights of the cruise, watching the outdoor movies became our best choice for entertainment. One of the guitar players who roamed about the ship sounded like he was on his death bed. The piano bar was fun, and the strings musicians and brass band were great.
Service and Staff

Every crew member was so friendly. Our room steward and dining servers were top notch!
Ship Quality

The décor looks like it's from the 80's or 90's, but everything is kept very clean. I wish Carnival had better ventilation systems to remove the smoke from the casino. Unfortunately it was necessary to walk through the casino to reach the dining room, shops and other main areas, and it was smoky. Throughout the duration of the cruise, the smoke kept drifting further and further away from the casino (5th floor) so that after a week you could smell it at the stairways on the 8th floor. As a non-smoker it was very annoying to be subjected to the smell of smoke.
Cabin / Stateroom

Room was very clean. Small but plenty of storage space for clothes so that we could stow our suitcases so that they wouldn't be in our way.
dah.a cruise ship is a floating hotel. I think they do a great job consideration all the people that they have to try to satisfy. some people have to complain about something.
