I take mine with me and get it stamped if possible. I say you should always have it with you at port. In the rare case that you may miss the ship at least you'll have your passport to get back home.

I take a copy of my passport ID page when I go ashore. I never take the passport off the ship until I disembark.

they say not to if something would happen they would get it out of the safe and that's how they would know who it is and give them to you

No, I don't take mine. Just sail and sign card and Drivers License.

I do not take mine and have never gotten a stamp. I think you have to pay for stamps if you can find a place that does it.

If it’s my first visit to a port, I try to find a place to stamp it. If it’s a repeat visit, I leave it in the safe. I’ve been able to get stamps/stickers at Nassau, Amber Cove, Grand Turk, Cozumel, St. Martin, and St. Thomas (a sticker). Grand Turk has been only one to charge me a fee, and the St. Martin stamp was an experience I’ll never forget (due to the office’s location).

We lock our passports in the safe and we have pictures of them on our phones.
