Overall, we enjoyed the cruise, just because it was a cruise. So disappointed in Carnival and how they keep cutting back. We had “free” drinks while playing in the casino; there weren’t enough bartenders to take orders; when they did, it took 45 mins or longer to get a drink since they had to make the drinks as well as deliver after taking orders.

Food and Dining
3 out of 5
The buffets are still up to par. We did not eat at a specialty restaurant. The main dining room staff seem to be overworked; the waiters/waitresses have too many tables to take care of. I had the wrong salad delivered two times, and then had to wait 15 minutes to get it corrected. They no longer have table cloths, even on the “formal” night. One night we had to wait for the rest of our shared table guests to show up, which they never did; so our meal was served much later than the other tables around us. The next night we were on time, and our table guests were early and already waited on and served before we even had our orders taken.
Onboard Activities

Hot tubs were good when there weren’t children playing in them.
Entertainment
We didn’t attend any shows; the performers in the lobby area were good.
Service and Staff

Again, they have cut back on service. We only had the steward come in the morning. We got ice in the mornings, but just went to the lido deck to get more when needed. They no longer supplied glasses in the room or tumblers in the bathroom. Even the towel animals were reduced to small hand towels or wash cloth size.
Ship Quality

The ship was clean and well-maintained.
Cabin / Stateroom

We had 3 adults in this room. There was plenty of room. The aft balcony was nice. This level is one below Lido, so the pool, bar, and pizzeria were above us. The staff would be moving lounge chairs around after hours, which made a horrible screeching noise. But the balcony was nice and Lido deck covered it.
There are a few shops, with much hawking of the customers. They do offer a free bus ride into the town of Progresso. We took the 15 minute ride, but the hawkers in the town were worse than at the port, so we walked the block and within 15 minutes, were back at the bus stop ready to return to the port.
Also our servers in the main dining room seemed extremely overwhelmed as well, never introduced themselves and either rushed us through dinner or took forever to bring our drinks/ food. One night I wasn’t feeling weak and it took them 45 minutes to bring me a ginger ale, and I had to ask twice.
I was just on Carnival Sunshine and share your frustration in how long it took to get drinks not only delivered, but also made when we went to the bar ourselves.
Thanks for your review. Like carnival is cutting back due to inflation, the other side of the coin the locals at ports around the world are basically begging for sales. I have noticed the same thing at hotels where they've cut back on complimentary water and toiletries. Not a good time for the service industry.
