Review summary

overall I would say carnival is a budget cruise line, similar to budget airlines. The quality of all items included are very poor. The service is fair at best. Everything we really enjoyed food wise was from restaurants that we had to pay extra for. This is our second carnival and likely our last. We are willing to pay more for better quality experience. We would also like to have premium service, food, boarding, speciality tours etc. something I’m willing to pay for but not even offered. Similar to having the opportunity to by different class fares on airlines i.e. First, Business, Economy etc.. carnival is a long haul economy seat.

Ship tip

Do not get a room on deck 9 forward under the lido. We have cart traffic all night long in the restaurant above. We didn’t sleep well at all. The noise was from the carts on deck 10 was very loud in the room. This went on all hours of the night.

Ports of call

It’s a waste of time. Just don’t get off the ship.

Cozumel, Mexico

This port was ok. Lots to do. Very well organized tours. You will only need to visit Cozumel once though. Not enough for a second stop on future cruises.

Yep it's a budget cruise line. Love it! Not many stuffy people on board like the pricier lines. Do your research on your room before you go. Many places to look at deck plans. Sorry you didn't like it.

You are correct. Carnival one royal carribean are budget cruise lines. Next comes princess at the premium level. The the others go up from there.

If you want specialty tours, your best bet is to look outside the cruiselines and check out private tour companies.

We have cruised the Breeze twice. Once with a group of 20 and this past fall 30+ family members and have enjoyed all the dining options without doing specialty dining. The main dining room dinners and Seaday brunch are one of my favorite parts of a cruise. You probably need to get your wallet out if those options aren't good enough for you.And I would check room location on any ship before I booked in the future.

We always check our room location. Our trick is make sure there is a room on all sides and top and bottom. And never get a room with a connecting door. Best of luck on future cruises.

Just stay on land somewhere. Cruising just isn't for you.

Yeah, I'm going to have to disagree with the majority of your post. I love Cozumel, and will always take any opportunity to enjoy their wonderful beaches. Costa Maya has a lot to offer if you take a few extra steps to the taxi stand outside the port, and pay the $5 USD to go into town. I love the variety and abundance of fun activities on the ship, and can always find something good to eat without paying extra (though the specialty dining is considerably better). Only thing I agree with is your assessment of getting a cabin under the Lido deck; next time maybe pay a little more attention and do some research prior to booking your room.

10 minute bus ride South to Mahahual Malecón, walking, beach, food, cerveza! Get off the boat and enjoy the culture of Mexico, this is why you cruise!

As with many things in life, there's a law of diminishing returns. You will get marginal improvements on the other mainstream lines, so then you go up to premium, and then up to luxury lines. So someday, you can spend a whole lotta money to be with the upper crusts of cruising.
