Review summary

All in all, a good cruise. Even with the issues encountered, a bad day on a cruise, is better than a great day at work.

Embarkation

We are platinum, so we were able to get on very quickly.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
We always enjoy the food on Carnival. We have cruised enough we know what we like and don't like, so the items we pick are usually excellent. It does seem the food on the Breeze was a notch better than other ships we have been on. Even my daughter mentioned the food on the Breeze was better than other carnival ships.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Played some put-put golf with our grand kids, who loved it. Also they loved the splash pad. Did not go in the pool, but we did enjoy sitting by it and relaxing.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
I did not see any of the shows, but my wife did. She said 2 out of the 3 productions they did were excellent. One was too "adult" oriented in their style of dancing, which kind of turned her off.

Children's Programs

5 out of 5
Our grand daughter loved Camp Ocean and playing with the other kids, our grand son, who is 2, not so much, but that is not Camp Ocean's fault, he just did not want to be left there.

Service and Staff

Here is where the "but" comes in from the title. First time we have ever had any issues with service and first time we ever complained to customer service. Our room steward was horrible. My wife would straighten the room so his job would be easier, but I guess with her doing that, he assumed he only had to make the bed. He would only do the minimum, never actually cleaning or making our grand kids beds. We had to pull the dirty sheets off and put them on the floor before he would take the, and then he did not replace the sheets, he said we took them off the bed, so he assumed we did not want them on the bed. Hmmm... after about 4 days of this, we finally went to customer service and complained. After that, he would not speak to us and pretty much ignored and turned away the rest of the cruise. Another issue was the in the middle of the night, we were hearing loud music... Thump, thump, loud whooping, etc.. Thinking it was one of the bars, we did not say anything at first, but being on the first deck and the closest bar being on he 5th, we couldn't imagine others were not hearing it, so we went to Customer service and asked about it. after doing some investigating, they found out it was coming from the employee galley below us on deck 0 and the employees were playing loud music. The did have them stop.. Lastly, we had 6pm dinner and had a large group of 12 people, which included our 2 grand kids. Every night we got very slow service. We were just getting appetizers when other large tables were getting main courses. Being these other groups were 12+ as well, it was not the size of our group. Trying to entertain a 2 year old for 45 minutes while waiting on apps was very challenging. We did not complain to anyone about this. They were very nice and seemed very flustered when talking to them.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
you could see some wear on the ship in places, but they were in a constant state of cleaning and repairing.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
besides the service we got from the room steward, we loved the room. Being a deluxe oceanview, it comes with a second "1/2" bath, which includes a tub, which was great for the grand kids. The grand kids also loved the window view. For those that have been in an oceanview room, there is an area the kids loved to sit in play.

Ports of call

Port Canaveral, Florida

King's Wharf, Bermuda Did not visit port

There was a hurricane in the area of Bermuda, so we got changed to San Juan and Amber Cove, which was fine with me, I like those ports.

Grand Turk Island

Grand kids loved the beach and played for hours.

Disembarkation

A little stressful to begin with. Again, being platinum, we should have been one of the first ones off, but it seemed they did not check and anyone that wanted to leave, did.
