Review summary

Enjoyed everything except the disembarkation. Will do something different next time.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Fast and easy from covered port parking all the way to the cabin which was ready when we boarded. Usually have to wait for cabin to be made ready.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Very good. Lots of choices. Good burgers. Really enjoyed the Your Time dining, food was good and wait staff was friendly and professional.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
We don't drink or gamble and are too old (70's) for much physical activity. Did enjoy a round of putt putt golf, but was too hot for much more. Enjoyed country music and trivia.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
In general Carnival does not have the quality of stage shows of other cruises we have taken, Princess, Norwegian, Disney. Some of the PG comedy was good, 18+ was not appropriate for anyone. Did enjoy one movie at the Seaside Theater.

Ship tip

Get a low number luggage tag early and let them handle your luggage when leaving

Ports of call

Galveston, Texas

4 out of 5
Galveston has a lot of interesting things to see and do. The port itself seems a little industrial and not as nice as some.

Cozumel, Mexico

4 out of 5
We did the Chichen Itza trip. It was very interesting, but a little long and tiring between the boat ride and 4 or 5 hours on the bus, but the ruins were worth the trip. Did not see much of Cozumel.

Belize City, Belize

4 out of 5
We did the Xunantunich trip. Like Cozumel, it was a little tiring for older folks, but was worth it. My wife almost did not make it up to the site. I enjoyed climbing to the top of the temple. Lunch was good, also.

Mahogany Bay, Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras

Port itself was beautiful. We did the Sea and See excursion. Van was crowded and isles were very narrow. Stops were nice, especially the coral reef viewing and the cameo shop.

Disembarkation

2 out of 5
The "new and improved disembarkation" process was probably the worst one we have ever done. We were on deck 9 and thought we would save time by carrying our own luggage. The elevators, halls and stairways were all packed. I finally dragged my luggage down 5 flights of stairs crowded with people who were not suppose to be there to deck 4 to wait in the Ovation Theater as we had been instructed. The halls and stairs were so full I could hardly move, then the door to the theater was closed, finally got it open and had more stairs to climb for a place to sit. Then wait and wait until called, then have to drag luggage down one more flight of stairs. What is the advantage of carrying your own luggage? Did not get off any faster or easeir. Should have gotten a low number luggage tag and let them handle it. Would have been easier to find luggage in the terminal and been off the ship 30 minutes sooner.
