Review summary

Hey, it was a great getway to get away!! Thank you Carnival Cruise Lines and !

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Actually, better than anticipated. Usually they take forever as you hurry up to wait. We arrived a little early for our scheduled boarding time so we were placed in another line. I thought this was it and we were due for a long wait. Not so. There never was much of a line. We were pre-registered so that may have made the difference, but it went very smoothly. Also, our pictures were automatically downloaded from our passports, so no time wasted getting your picture taken for our Sail and Sign card. Before we know it we were on the elevator to our deck. We di wait a few minute outside the closed entrance to our deck, but when a venturesome passenger opened the door, we found guests walking up and down the hallway, so on we went, right to our cabin and were relaxing after ouf 5 1/2 drive.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Ship experiences were about as anticipated. Long lines at times, no enough chaise lounges on sea days, average food, good drinks and always great service. We did not participate in any on-board activities, such as Bingo, seminars, spa events, etc. but were just happy to get away........... I am in the food industry so am probably more critical than some, however, the food was average at best. There were moments of brilliance, but generally pretty much cruise ship fare. Not bad, but not memorable either.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Again, about as expected. The entertainment staff were accomplished and the variety of themed evenings was good. They do the best they can with what they have to work with. Much better then some cruises we have been on.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The service staff are excellent. They are very attentive, anticipating your needs and delivering excellent service with a smile. Very engaging with the guests. We ate in the late seating in Blush Restaurant and were delightfully served by the hostess Eva, Lead Server Sanja, as well as Zoran and Nadja. Excellent. We also must add Jorge in food service and Jelle a public area housekeeper who were friendly and efficient with wonderful personalities. Our cabin attendant was good, but not great. He was very accommodating when asked and the room was generally cleaned well.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
We previously sailed on the Carnival Dream which I believe is in the same class as the Breeze and this ship was similar. Decor was different from what we are used to, but the ship was well laid out and clean. Bars and restaurants were well appointed as well. No complaints.

Ship tip

Don't go to the buffet lunch at Noon! Very crowded with long lines. I gave up on getting a Guy's Burger. I never got within 10 feet without getting frustrating and going back to the buffet. But, that's me, I guess. Off peak was probably much better, but would have already eaten by then.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
Not the fault of Carnival, but we anchored outside the port for seven hours as the port was closed due to heavy fog. It was a lengthy process to get off the ship and through customs, but the crew did the best they could under the circumstances. Instead of getting home by 4pm, we rolled in our driveway at 11pm. Long day for sure!
